FLASHBACK: No man can unseat Obaseki in Edo- Umahi

Earlier this year, Governor David  Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State sent a very powerful message to the just re-elected Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki through his wife, Betsy, and other southern governors' wives when they paid him a courtesy visit in Abakaliki, telling him that power belongs to God based on his aspiration to be returned into office as the state governor. 

He maintained in his speech that, there is no man can unseat Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo precisely on January 24, 2020 while addressing the group at Exco-Chambers, Government House, Abakaliki.

The true manifestation of the proclamation of Governor Umahi has come to past today following the intimidations and fears that trailed the parties who were the major contenders of this election but its results have favoured the said Obaseki as the winner.

Before now, many supporters of the said Obaseki were finding it very hard to make their views opened but the truth remains that power belongs to God as proclaimed by Umahi.

The Ebonyi State Governor said: "Power belongs to God and no matter what anybody will do, it is God that has the final say and I can assure you Ma, you know as an apostle of the most high God, I also prophesy. And because of the good work your husband is doing for the people of Edo State, no man can unseat him.

“Even in our NEC meeting, when Obaseki speaks, you see Economics. You see a man that came from private sector background. And so, we can’t wish that away. So, congratulations to you in advance and to all of us,” Engr David Umahi." The above backdrop was exactly the proclamation made for Obaseki through his wife by Governor Umahi even though he was then, still carrying the flag of another party other than his PDP umbrella.

Today, the prophecy has come to pass and it is obvious that no one can ever get the point if such one has not got the sense because, it is only God that gives victories including elections of this kind.

 PDP got 307,955 votes against APC 223,619, and this entails that, the PDP candidate, Obaseki has won the Edo state's 2020 gubernatorial election.

Thus, the final whistle has been  blown as INEC has declared Godwin Obaseki winner of the Edo Gubernatorial Election with total of 307,955 votes defeating his close rival, Ize  Iyamu who scored 223,619.
