The PDP Chairman, Ebonyi State, Barr. Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, today lambasted the leader of Ebonyi State Indigenes in Diaspora, AESID, one Mr. Pascal Oluchukwu and his supporters for accusing Governor David Umahi on the sale of Lagos property.
Barr. Nwebonyi described Mr. Oluchukwu and his team as the political hooligans, devicing ways to discredit Governor Umahi by circulating fake and malicious publications against him.
The Chairman maintained that the group's claim on the sale of Lagos property by the state governor was unfolded and highest falsehood, urging the general public to be wary of their their activities.
He said: "For sometime now, political hooligans have been looking for a way to discredit the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dr. David Umahi. This they have been doing through circulating fake and malicious publications against the governor. I call them hooligans because they have no place in the politics of Ebonyi State and have never made any contribution or impact therein.
"It is ridiculous for someone to say that the governor sold or is planning to sell Lagos property. More ridiculous is that the group which is faceless issued ultimatum to the governor.
"Well I'm not taking the frivolous publication or the publishers serious, but for the umpteenth time I challenge the imps to come out and substantiate their claims. I have always said that criticism is very healthy for democracy; it helps keep leaders on edge. But, where disparaging calumny is taken for criticism is unhealthy and unacceptable. Calumny can never pass criticism.
"There is no gainsaying that Governor David Umahi has performed exceedingly well, fact speaks for itself. The performance of Governor Umahi has crippled opposition in Ebonyi State, and that is why the disgruntled elements have chosen distractions by way of calumny.
