A veteran journalist and the Secretary General to Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Kaduna State Council, Comrade John Femi Adi, has called on newsmen to make use of their social media handles as supplement for daily reportage.
Comrade John Femi Adi made the call during an interaction with newsmen at Kaduna.
The Secretary said, the high rate of fake news on social media has become a thing of great concern, adding that Journalists has failed to update the society through their various social media handles.
In his words: “Facebook, Twitter and other social media handles are for Journalists. If you leave the media in the hands of people who do not know how to use it, people get misinformed and this is very detrimental to the Society."
The veteran journalist therefore, charged journalists to live up to their responsibilities, maintaining that the pressmen should at all cost ensure they abide by their professional ethics, even as the people depend on them as the carrier of truth in the society.
