The Ebonyi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Cletus Ofoke has called on the people of the State to be peace makers in line with the already existing peace anchored by the Governor of the State, Engineer David Umahi.
Barrister Ofoke stated this while briefing Journalists after the Meeting of Ebonyi State Committee on Farmers/Herders at Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital.
The Attorney general use the opportunity to address the 13 Local Government Area Chairmen and the representatives of Myetee Allah who were drawn from all the LGAs in the state on the best way to handle Farmers/Herders mishap
"This Committee on Farmers/Herdsmen were constituted to ensure peaceful coexistence of Herders and their host Communities, hence the campaign for peace". He added.
He maintained that all humans came from God almighty.
" We must know that God created us from one source and for a reason, therefore we must live like brother and sister to avoid causing harm to one another". He explained.
The Attorney General has also appointed Mr Zaccheaus Ogbuefi who is the Public Relation Officer PRO of Local Government Advisory committee, to be the State PRO of the Committee.
Similarly, the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Boarder Peace and Conflict Resolution, Mr Stanley Okoroemegha lreiterated his commitment to make Ebonyi the most peaceful state in Nigeria.
Mr Okoroemegha advised Herders to be law abiding and to be in peace with their Host communities.
On his part, the Southeast Chairman of Myetee Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, who is also Technical Assistance to Ebonyi State Governor on Herdsmen, Mr Sadiq Gidado applauded the Government of Ebonyi State in its relentless efforts to make the State Peaceful.
He advised the Fulani herdsmen to maintain peace on their daily lives.
He called on other Governors in Nigeria to emulate Engineer David Umahi by appointing non Indigene into their governments.
