South East Governors Forum has condemned in strong terms the audio video clip, said to emanate from Nnamdi KANU, the Leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, being circulated in the social media, just as the forum also condemned the attempts by some ethnic groups to brand SARS as the affairs of the Igbo's against other ethnic groups in Nigeria, particularly the West.

This forms one of the major highlights of the forum's virtual emergency meeting held on Thursday, 22nd October, 2020.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the Chairman, South East Governors Forum, and Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr. David Umahi, made it clear that Nnamdi KANU, did not have the capacity to speak for the Igbos, hence, the collective voice of the people of the zone on the present critical situation, even though, KANU, in a statement, had denied the video.

His words:  "We as Leaders of South East, do condemn in strong terms, the audio video in circulation in social media, said to have been emanated from Mr Nnamdi KANU, though, he has since denied it. We condemn attempt by some ethnic group, that make attempt to brand SARS as the affairs of the Igbos and another ethnic group, against our brothers and sisters from the West.

"We make bold to say that Mr. KANU, without prejudice to the fact that he has denied the audio video, does not speak for our people, hence the collective voice of our people on this critical present situation".

The governors forum urged the people of the South East, wherever they are to disembark from "EndSARS protests, as it has been highjacked by hoodlums, stressing that what was being witnessed at the moment was no longer protest, but, orchestrated violence as people are imported from one state or the other to destroy lives and property.

The Igbo leaders, however, urged other leaders from other geo political zones of the country to do everything within the law to continue to protect the lives and property of all ethnic nationality within their domains, assuring that the South  East on their part, will continue to do everything to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property of other ethnic nationality in their zone.

"We do not belief that destruction of our property, killing of people will be the solution. Their voices have been heard. We as leaders of this nation have a lot to learn from the peaceful demands of peaceful #EndSARS protesters.

"As a nation we cannot afford to destroy what we have laboured to build, whether private or  government owned. So  I appeal to all our leaders all over the country to do everything to continue to maintain peace among the all ethnic groups within their domains.
This is a critical moment in the history of our country,he cautioned.
