The Executives of the Motorcycle (Okada) Transport Union, Ebonyi State Chapter have warned their members to never join any kind of protests in the state due to the wanton destructions of lives and properties recorded since the suspected hoodlums hijacked the usual peaceful #ENDSARS protest that was going on across the country.
This was contained in a communique issued by the Executive members of the Union during their emergency meeting in Abakaliki on Thursday.
The communique endorsed by the Union's State Chairman, Comrade Paulinus Atam (Jp), said the union has enjoined all the motorcycle ridders in Ebonyi State to go back to their normal Okada business and never join protest of any any kind whether #ENDSARS or IPOB protest.
The communique also stated that, "the Union enjoins all the Executives of Okada Union in the thirteen (13) LGAs of Ebonyi State to hold a crucial meeting with their members and warn them not to join any protest in the State.
"The Union in a stronghold enjoins Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency,the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr.Chief David Nweze Umahi to remain resolute, firm and determined in his quest to place the state on the same pedestal with developed economies."
Further, the Union in the communique expressed dismay and condemned the wanton destruction of lives and properties by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protest in Ebonyi State.
The Union equally condemned the destruction of government properties such as Streets lights, police Stations, burning of tyres on the tarred roads in Ebonyi State by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful #EndSRS protest.
It however, commended the proactive measures of the state government under Governor David Umahi especially in the handling of the #EndSARS Protest been hijacked by hoodlums despite the rate of provocation by the irate protesters.
"The Union sincerely wishes to commend Governor Umahi for always putting the affairs of our association in front burner, provisions of good roads, and infrastructure that enhances the socioeconomic of our dear state.
"As a matter of urgency, the Union calls on the government to probe anyone (Okada) found in participating in any forms of protests, stealing, diverting, and misappropriating our collective patrimony and treat such person as an enemy of the state," the communique added.
Meanwhile, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security and Public Utility, Ebonyi South Zone, Hon. Onyekachi Nwoba (Bone) who represented the State Commissioner for Internal Security, Boarder Peace and Conflict Resolution, Hon.Stanley Okoro Emegha in the meeting commended and assured the Union of the state government's continuous support to ensure the safety of lives and properties at this trying moment in the country.
