Senator Sam Egwu representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District in the Red Chambers on Friday reacted to his alleged suspension by the Ebonyi PDP under the leadership of Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi.

Egwu yesterday was reportedly serving a suspension issued against him and his cohorts due to his alleged anti-party activities since assumed office as the member representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District in the Red Chambers for the second term.

His colleague, Senator Obinna Ogba representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District and Senator Michael Ama Nnachi, representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District
were also reportedly suspended by the PDP.

The three Senators, and five House of Representatives members from the state were suspended to have allegedly engaged in anti-Party activities.

The three Senators were also alleged to have been the brains behind the emergence of Ebonyi Abuja Group in the recent time which triggered conflict among the party faithfuls till date.

The State PDP Chairman, Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi in a statement disclosed this on Thursday, saying that the three Senators elected under the platform of PDP were all suspended with their supporters working against the party rules.

He added that the House of Representatives members suspended by the party include Hon. Chukwuma Nwanzunku, Hon. Sylvester Ogbaga, Hon. Livunus Makwe and Hon. Idu Igariwey.

He noted that the party equally has suspended Hon. Victor Aleke, Hon. Chris Usulor and other PDP members in the state following their repeated anti-party activities.

The party leadership equally has invited all the members under suspension to appear before its disciplinary Committee to defend themselves over the allegations on Friday, 20th November, 2020 or wait to risk unbearable punishment.

However, Egwu who was the former Governor of the state, described the suspension as an unfolded one, alleging that Nwebonyi's leadership is no longer in existence.

Egwu said: "The attention of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Assembly Caucus in Ebonyi State has been drawn to a document released to the public purporting the suspension of the eight National Assembly members of the PDP in Ebonyi State and the recently inaugurated Caretaker Committee Executive members of the party by the former chairman of the party, Barr. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi.

"Recall that on the 17th of November, 2020, the National Working Committee of the PDP dissolved the former Executive Committee of the party in Ebonyi State with recourse to the Constitution of the PDP. Since their dissolution, the party has inaugurated a Caretaker Committee chaired by Chief Fred Udeogu, and has since resumed duties.

"In the light of the foregoing, we urge our teeming members, supporters and the public to discountenance the purported suspension as the party in Ebonyi State is committed to restructuring the party since the defection of Gov. David Umahi. We are focused and warn Barr. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi against acts capable of causing commotion in the state. We advise him to focus on his new party---APC than seeking vainglorious attention in the name of suspending the National Assembly Caucus and caretaker committee members of the party, as he doesn't have the powers as member of the APC to meddle in the affairs of the PDP in Ebonyi State."
