The pain and anguish of a bereaved governor

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State.

By Yakubu Ahmed-BK

This sollen face, clearly enveloped in pain and anguish, tells the story of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state in bereavement.

110 of his people (according to latest Agency reports) were butchered by the Boko Haram insurgents in rice fields in Zabarmari farming town of Jere Local Government area of the state.

His pain and that of all of us, is against the backdrop of the tireless efforts by the Governor to quicken the process of attaining much needed peace to kick-start normalisation of civil life and economic activities in a state that has been engulfed in a needless and senseless bloodshed for upward of ten years.

Unlike anything before it, it seems rather surprisingly, that Nigerians from all walks of life and the world at large are united in condemnation of this heinous crime against humanity.

Here’s hoping that this unity will galvanise the federal government into doing then needful to deal with this madness once and for all.
