Prominent members of All Progresives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State have continued to meet to device means of wooing Governor David Nweze Umahi into the leading party at the centre.
NATIONAL PANEL gathered that it is a game plan to ensure that APC takes over Ebonyi come 2023 general elections.
It was also gathered that the party's pursuit to poll victory in all the states in the Southeastern zone of the country alongside the Presidential target of the region also necessitated the party stalwarts to never relent on seeking means of wooing personalities that can make the dream come to pass.
"Every rumour heralded recently that Governor Umahi had defected into APC seemed not becoming a reality but the party cabals have never relented to fast-track the calculation to meet their target owing to Governor Dave Umahi's salable legacies since assumed power in 2015", a reliable source told our newsman.
We have equally gathered that notable stakeholders of APC in the state held a solidarity meeting as a part of their preparations to welcome Governor Umahi into the party at the residential quarters of Comrade Chinedu Ogah, the member representing Ezza South-Ikwo Federal Constituency in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital.
NATIONAL PANEL learnt that the meeting had in attendance the high personalities of the state APC, including two former Speakers of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Augustine Nwankwegu and Christopher Omo Isu.
Also in the meeting were Peter Oge Ali, Michael Awoke, Anthony Itumo, Paul Okorie, PJoseph Afiukwa and the representatives of Edward Nkwegu among others.
We equally learnt that James Aro Nweke, and the representatives of Benard Odoh and Sen. Julius Ali Ucha were all present in the meeting.
Ogah has congratulated Governor Umahi on his decision to join APC, called on all the party stakeholders and its faithfuls with the general public to see the action as a welcome development.
The Federal lawmaker noted that the membership of the Governor in APC would bring good tidings for the party ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the State.
On his part, a former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Abia Onyike enjoined all party faithfuls to intensify efforts to unite the party across the entire pooling units and wards of Ebonyi State to give the governor a befitting welcome. He noted that the incomming of the Governor into the APC would gurantee success of the party and improve its economic status.
