A ranking member of Coal City University’s Strategic Advisory Board, SAB, Mr. Chinedu Eric Okeke, has been appointed a non-Executive Director by the Fidelity Bank PLC. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Okeke serves as the Managing Director of Azura West Africa Limited, an infrastructure development and operating company.
This is yet another significant milestone for Coal City University Enugu, Africa's foremost and fast rising private university, now commonly known for setting the pace and constantly breaking new grounds.
Recall that the university had, few months ago, assembled over 56 international scholars, in its visiting scholar programme, accentuating scholarship in the university. It also recently signed a MoU with the Delaware State University, USA which created three pathways through which Nigerian and foreign Coal City University students can benefit from international education at both Coal City University and Delaware State University. Amidst the debilitating pandemic, Coal City University held its matriculation virtually, admitting its 2019/2020 session’s first year students as bona-fide students of the university.
As we write, the university is in the middle of its 2020/2021 session’s first semester. This was possible because it lost not one day to COVID-19 lockdown in the previous session, as it seamlessly migrated its teaching online while its students were at home.
As other Nigerian students were getting gradually frustrated, CCU students were studying and making progress in their studies. It successfully graduated its final year students who now are awaiting call-up for national service by the National Youth Service Corps.
It is therefore no coincidence that the hardworking and result-oriented Mr. Chinedu Eric Okeke is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the Coal City University.
In its Coal City University Distinguished Speaker Series, the university recently hosted the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria and Ambassador to the ECOWAS region, Ms. Claire Ireland. It also variously played host to Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama and the philanthropist, Prince Arthur Eze, who had the university’s Community Education Centre named after him. A delegation of the university management paid a working visit to Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Co Ltd at Nnewi. At IVM, they held discussions on possible areas of collaboration with its CEO, Chief Innocent Chukwuma; amidst other milestones.
In a well worded hearty congratulatory message, the visionary Vice Chancellor of Coal City University, Prof. Afam Icha-Ituma, on behalf of himself, the Chancellor, Sir Chinedu Ani and the entire university community, congratulated Mr. Okeke on the deserved elevation by Fidelity Bank.
He lauded Fidelity Bank for the appointment while urging Mr. Okeke to fully deploy his wealth of experience, spanning decades, to further improve the fortunes of the bank, in his new role.
