The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has set to conduct fresh election in Ebonyi State.
This was contained in a press release signed by Hon. Nchita Samuel Akahite IPAC Ebonyi State Chapter and Hon. Udume Samuel Evo - the state Secretary IPAC who is also the State Chairman of ADC.
The press release reads, "in compliance with Section 3, paragraph 3.3(b)i of the 2018 Revised IPAC Code of Conduct which mandates the Council to conduct fresh elections to elect new set of executives every 365 days (1 year) under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ebonyi state chapter wishes to announce to the general public that the National Executives of the IPAC, has scheduled Thursday 28th January, 2021 for the conduct of fresh elections to elect new executives who will take over from the currently serving interim management committee which was inaugurated on 29th July last year to fill up the vacuum created in the Council's leadership in the state by the deregistration of over 71 political parties by INEC in February 2020 which affected the political parties of many of the Executives including the United Patriot (UP) of the then state Chairman, Nwogba Morgan.
"In a letter dated 7th January, 2021, and signed by both the National IPAC Chairman the National Secretary, the IPAC National delegates are expected to arrive Ebonyi on Wednesday, 27th January 2021, while the elections shall hold on Thursday, 28th January 2021 at the INEC headquarters, Abakaliki at 10am.
"Interested party Chairmen in the state who may wish to contest for any of the available positions are advised to visit the Council's Secretariat at No.2 Akpofe Street, opposite the Abakaliki township stadium for details and guidelines, as well as other necessary requirements or call the State's interim Chairman Hon. Nchita Samuel Akahite or the Secretary, Hon. Udume Samuel Evo
"Please kindly note that persons whose political parties have been deregistered by INEC are no longer members of IPAC and are not eligible to participate.
This means that it is only members of the eighteen (18) surviving political parties in the country, recognised by INEC are eligible.
"Members of the general public who wish to know the existing political parties recorgnised by INEC are advised to visit the INEC's website at www.inecnigeria.org/political- parties."
