APC faithfuls have continued to rejoice following the formal defection of the former PDP National Vice Chairman, Deacon Austin Umahi to their party at his Uburu country home in Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State on Tuesday.
The former PDP Chieftain also has registered with APC at his polling unit.
While obtaining his membership registration card as a member of the APC, Deacon Austin disclosed that he made the PDP what it was in the Southeast and won elections for the party in the entire geopolitical zone, promising to re-enact same for the APC, come 2023.
The APC Publicity Secretary in Ebonyi State, Ogbuatu Chidi Simbad made this known in a statement forwarded to the political desk of the NATIONAL PANEL.
According to the Publicity Secretary, "with his (Austin Umahi's) wealth of knowledge which propelled the PDP to greater heights, Deacon Austin's defection will no doubt drive the last nail into the coffin of the PDP in Ebonyi State and indeed the entire Southeast geopolitical zone particularly now that the PDP doesn't have the interest of Nd'Igbo at heart, but the interest of self-serving opportunists.
"Deacon Austin who equally carpeted disgruntled members of the dying PDP and their so-called Abuja based leaders who have not been in the state in the past six months but have chosen remain detractors, stated that they will soon be shamed and disgraced in Ebonyi State and the South East even as he extolled the foresightedness of Governor Umahi for launching the State to the mainstream of politics in Nigeria, describing him as a pacesetter and stating that he was proud to be part of the APC."
