Barrister Osita David, the Legal Adviser to the All Progress Congress (APC) in South Africa, has lauded Governor David Umahi’s developmental strides which have made the state the envy of other states.
David made the disclosure in an interview in Abakaliki, noting that such developmental strides have made Ebonyi’s name ring a bell across the nation and beyond.
The legal adviser said that he is currently on a visit to Nigeria and toured round Ebonyi, only to discover the wonders God was using Umahi to do in the state.
“I bring the warm felicitations of the APC South Africa with base in Pretoria and urge Ebonyi citizens to travel around other states to fully appreciate the blessing they have in the governor.
“What marvels people especially those of us in the Diaspora is that Ebonyi receives one of the least allocations from the federation account yet the governor has so much utilised the funds to enhance the people wellbeing,”
He said that aesthetically, Ebonyi ranks as the best in the country as its network of concrete roads, flurry of flyovers and bridges, well-lit street lights among others cannot be found elsewhere.
“The linkage of roads especially the ones in the rural areas have enhanced agriculture which has made it easy for farmers to transport their goods from the rural to the urban areas.
“This has in turn, reduced the prices of foodstuff and made food available in all nooks and crannies of the state.
“The state government has also paid great attention to its solid minerals sector which has attracted rapid development to it especially from the federal government”
David urged other state governors to emulate Umahi and pay serious attention to governance which would enhance the peoples’ wellbeing.
“Umahi has proved that he is a practical engineer who has brought his wealth of experience to bear and engage in one of the innovative tenets of engineering which is project monitoring.
“I observed that there is constant power supply in Ebonyi and this shows that the government realises the importance of power in fuelling and sustaining economies,” he said.
He commended the governor for his strides in other sectors such as health, education, commerce among others and noted that posterity would forever remember him for these legacies.
“One important area the governor developed is the youth sector where he has provided several empowerment packages for the youths to make them self reliant and employers of labour.
“This has greatly reduced unemployment, youth restiveness, crime among others as Ebonyi is unarguably, one of the safest states in the country.
“I commend his avid belief in his lieutenants and note that the commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon Charlse Akpuenika has strived towards achieving the governor’s objectives in the youth development sector.
