The Ebonyi State First Lady, Chief Mrs Rachel Ogonna Nweze Umahi has penchant not for mundane things but for spiritual, serving and knowing God, this led her to be ordained a lay Pastor in 1993 and on 17th July 2016 she was ordained as a deaconess by Christ Embassy Headquarters in Lagos. The Ebonyi First Lady knows God through committed service to humanity, good conduct and virtuous lifestyle, a daughter of Zion who starts her day with acknowledging the goodness of God through prayer and ends it with thanksgiving to God.
Nature and nurture play a very significant role in what Mama Ebonyi is doing today, touching and improving lives of peasant women and children - she lived with a grandmother who was a philanthropic and a passionate woman of note.
Through her pet project, family succour and upliftment foundation which has four powerful channels, health, education, youth empowerment and gender inclusion, through the collaboration of Development agencies and relevant Government Institutions, she has achieved the following:
Built 172 bungalows for indigent women across the state, empowered 1710 rural women with one hundred thousand Naira only grants each to start up business while 260 widows are payrolled as they are paid monthly stipends. Mama Ebonyi have also through an enduring relationship with the Ebonyi State Agency for Mass Literacy adult and non formal assisted adult women who are interested to acquire education to do so.
It is only character and Manners that makes a first lady to be solidly behind her husband to achieve such an amazing and excellent landmarks that His Excellency Dr Engr Dave Nweze Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State has achieved in Ebonyi State, without a very supportive and helpful wife, you cannot do all that the Governor of Ebonyi state is doing rightly, that is why one is tempted to ask; all these state governors in Nigeria who cannot offer leadership, that cannot pay salaries and pensions are their spouses not aware? All these fashion craze first lady who careless about the inhuman treatments their husbands are inflicting on their people should borrow a leaf from Nneoma Ebonyi State, Chief Mrs Rachel Ogonna Nweze Umahi who is tirelessly assisting her husband to change the story of Ebonyi state in a hurry to the irk or envy of other states.
Those first ladies who stand aloof and watch their husbands forcefully take what belongs to the masses, covert them and even share it between their wives and children.
Those first ladies whose husbands cannot point to one project that they initiated and completed in their tenure, those first ladies whose husbands are fixing monies meant for salaries and pensions of our Elder statesmen in the banks while the supposed beneficiaries die of hunger, should come to Ebonyi state and learn from her Excellency Chief Mrs Rachel Ogonna Nweze Umahi, who not only jointly conceived and initiate these legacy projects with her husband but insist that they must be completed because of her Manners. God has a place in her life.
An exceptional first lady who inspite of her very busy schedules finds time to cook for her husband and children. She also washes his undies to ensure that his excellency who loves to spackle neat in white is rediating inside out.
A home grown mother reads and understands every mood of her husband to ensure that he is fine through sweet and words of encouragement.
She is a delight to be with because she radiates joy and happiness. A close associate describes her Excellency as an exemplary mother, a woman of substance and a very down to earth person inspite of the wealth she and her husband commands even before they went into politics. This may be why the blessings she carries have like blood circulated for the good of Ebonyians.
