The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from celebrating the killings of innocent people in some communities in Ebonyi State.
Ebonyi APC gave this warning in a statement endorsed and made available to newsmen on Saturday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chidi Ogbuatu in Abakaliki.
The APC spokesman in the statement was reacting to the opposition party (PDP) which alleged that the state government had unveiled plan to pounce on its members in the state and however, described the PDP's allegation against his party as a panic measure.
APC in the statement said: "The PDP should know it that whoever spills innocent blood shall not escape the inevitability of nemesis.
"The PDP should also know that when evil pervades the land it doesn't know who is PDP and who is APC; everyone becomes a victim.
"Therefore, the opposition should desist from throwing parties over the blood of innocent Ebonyians and dancing over their dead bodies because of the feelings that the tragedies will give them a political advantage over the ruling APC. They are only inviting karma upon itself and their relatives and it must surely come."
The ruling APC recalled what it described as a trash, a press statement authoured by one Mr Moses Idika who claimed to be the SSA on Media and Publicity to the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Southeast Zone, Ali Odefa on 8th April 2021; and stated that the party faithfuls would hesitate to resist any security threat by the opposition in the state.
It stated: "Ordinarily, we would have elected to ignore the trash as products of an infantile mind, but considering the fact that security issues are very sensitive and serious matters, we decided to submit as follows that:
"While the Governor Umahi's administration is working tirelessly in tandem with the federal government to ensure that peace and tranquility were enthroned in Effium Communities and indeed other parts of the State that are enmeshed in crisis, the PDP which is yet to recover from the Governor's exit from the party is busy playing politics with the crises, fanning the embers of hatred and rekindling the flames of anarchy and chaos as if their members were resident in the moon, not in Ebonyi State. This is most unfortunate, considering the fact that we are all Ebonyians and the victims of these crises are Ebonyians too.
"It is also unfortunate that the opposition which is playing neutral in profering solutions to these security scenarios is ignorant of the fact that security is the concern of all citizens, not that of the government alone and as such they should be partners in the process of ensuring peace in our dear state. Rather, the opposition is regrettably rejoicing over the killing of innocent Ebonyians thereby fueling suspicions that their members know more about the killings or possibly have a hand in the carnage.
"When Governor Umahi reprimanded and suspended appointees and elected functionaries of Government of Effium extraction, he did so in demonstration of his anger that as representatives of Government at the grassroot they had a responsibility of being vigilant and proactive by alerting security agencies of attempts at security breaches in their domains before situations got out of hand. But having failed to do so, the Governor naturally slammed them to serve as deterrent to others.
"The Commissioner for Border Peace and Internal Security and the Ebonyi State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman whom the author of the jaundiced press release described in derogatory and unprintable terms is intellectually superior to the so-called SSA whose entire gamut of words and expressions are replete with uncouth and gutter language, characteristic of touts which Odefa and his followers exemplify.
"What the PDP exhibited in the useless press release is nothing but panicky measures, affirming that truly the opposition knows more about the crises in Ebonyi State than meets the eyes. Otherwise, why did the so-called SSA to Odefa resort to insults and abuses on our party Chairman instead of refuting his allegations of mastermind of the insecurity in Ebonyi State on with facts and figures?
"Mr. SSA to Odefa should know that we didn't start this business of politics today; we know all the antics and very well understand the intrigues of the opposition PDP and we are still very much aware of the threats of what is left of the party's bigwigs when Governor Umahi dumped the party on 19th November, 2020. Some publicly said he "will regret his decision as they will make Ebonyi State ungovernable" for the Governor. So, seeing what is happening today in our hitherto peaceful State, no one will blame Chief Emegha for pointing accusing fingers at the opposition after all, every man is judged by his own utterances.

"When the time comes, Ebonyi State will certainly know and savour peace again; and evil men will perish."
