Ebonyi Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Orji Uchenna Orji, today urged youths to use their social media handed to promote peace and development in the society.
Orji gave advice while hosting members of Ohaukwu Youth Congress who paid him a courtesy visit in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The state Information Boss urged the youths to endeavour to protect their futures and shun anything capable of putting their them into problems.
He noted that Ebonyi youths were known to be law abiding and peaceful because of the way and manner Governor David Umahi had developed the state, while carrying them along in the government programmes and policies.
Orji maintained that the youths should remain partners of state government in its campaign for peace and peaceful coexistence.
He also adviced that the security matters should not be left in the hands of government alone, as the country would be a better place if security were taken as everyone's business.
He however, decried unemployment and other socio-economic challenges as major contributors to youth restiveness, but disclosed that the Ebonyi State Government under Governor David Umahi has carried along the youths of the state in the various government empowerment programmes.
He therefore enjoined the youths to use the social media to promote peace and tranquility in the society while appreciating their roles in bringing about peace to the troubled areas of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.
Earlier in his speech, the Chaiman of Ohaukwu Youth Congress, Comrade Ephraim Eze, appreciated the state Information Commissioner on his image making strategies which had finely projected the strides of Governor David Nweze Umahi's led Administration in the global map.
"Your performance in the state information sector has expediently communicated to all Ebonyi sons and daughters at home and diaspora, that their home (Ebonyi State) is now the most developing city for the type of business investment and activities in the sub-saharan Africa.
"Sir, we are mostly thrilled by the love and care of the youths convivial Governor of Ebonyi state, thus the eminent need of this visit.
"It is an understatement to say that we heartily appreciate the unique and lofty expectations of our dear governor by educating and empowering the youths for self reliance and entrepreneurship," he said.
The group also appreciated Governor Umahi, describing him as the youth friendly leader, which according to them reflected his disposition in the recent ENDSARS youth summit with Ohaukwu youths forming part of major beneficiaries.
They also commended Governor Umahi's effort in the dualization of Abakaliki- Enugu Expressway, construction of the pedestrian bridge at the EBSU permanent site, Ezzamgbo, construction of the gigantic flyover at Ezzamgbo junction, construction of the 2nd Nkwo Izhia bridge, among others.
