Governor David Umahi on Wednesday ordered compulsory data collection of all the traditional medicine practitioners in Ebonyi State.

Umahi gave this order while briefing newsmen at new Government House Centenary City, Abakaliki after the  State's Emergency Security Council Meeting.

He asked the State Ministries of Health and Internal Security to champion the registration exercise by the native doctors within Ebonyi in a week time alongside Police as part of  security measures.

"All native doctors and traditional medicine dealers  in the state shall register with the Commissioner of Police, Commissioner for Health and Commissioner for Internal Security and Border Peace, within 7 days as part of security measures in the state," he said.

The governor frowned at the recent killings recorded in his state and described the incidence as the handiworks of the bandits.

He appealed to the people to stop destructions of lives and properties; and however, directed the security agencies to clampdown the criminal activities in the state; as he imposed curfew in all border areas of Ebonyi from 8pm to 6am on daily basis.

He equally placed ban on social gatherings in the night, insisted that events such as wake keep, clubbing, among others should not exceed 6pm and the defaulters to be fined one  million Naira (N 1, 000, 000).
The governor unveiled the Ebube-Agu South East Security of Ebonyi State Chapter and also urged the union of commercial motorcyclists to form their vigilante group or wait to risk being banned from operating in the state.

On the recent attack against Ngbo natives in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state,  Governor Umahi said, it has been discovered that Agila people from Benue state allegedly hired herdsmen to unleash mayhems on the community.

He noted that peace has started returning to some crisis areas such as Effium, Ezzillo, Iyion and other war-torn  communities in the state.

He therefore, urged the people of the state especially those in the crisis communities to embrace peace, advising them to form their respective vigilante groups to fight insecurities.

Recall that the governor warned against circulation of fake news on social media, stressing that the defaulters should be subjected to face the wrath of law when caught.

He added that fasting and prayer has been declared from 1st to 8th May 2021 for Ebonyians to seek God’s intervention on the insecurity in the state, saying the ring road project is about to commence and urged all the communities within the eight local government areas where the roads will pass through to form a joint youth committee to police the area to avoid violent disturbances by hoodlums.

Highlight of the event was donation of over eighty (80) million Naira to the breaved families and communities of the suspected herdsmen attacks in the state.
