New corps members in Ebonyi tasked on security, corruption

 

1138 university graduates have been sworn into the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Ebonyi state with a charge to them to promote peace and unity of the country.

They were also charged to be ambassadors of governments right against insecurity by helping to reorientate the minds of the youths against all forms of violent and destructive tendencies.

The State Co-ordinator of the Corps, Mercy Bamai gave the charge in her address during the swearing in ceremony of the Batch A stream II at the Macgregor College Permanent Orientation Camp, Afikpo on Friday.

She charged them to strive to uphold the ideal for which the scheme was set up which include discipline, national integration and unity of the country.

She said that to achieve this the service year has been carefully segmented into four segments namely: orientation, primary assignment, community development service and passing out.

She charged the corps members to take the service year seriously especially the skill acquisition and  entrepreneurial training.

 "The essence of this is to stem the ride of unemployment in the country and rising insecurity which is being faced by the nation of recent"

"One of your roles as good bass adore of this great nation is to discourage any form of destruction by your fellow youths because this country belongs to all of us", she said.

Mrs Bamai charged the youths to be vanguards of war against corruption and insecurity.

The Coordinator noted that out of the 1138 corps members in camp, 643 are mal e while 495 are female while more are still being expected.

The corps members were sworn in by Justice Chris Eze who represented the state Chief Judge.
