The Chairman Southeast Governors Forum and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, has attributed the rising insecurity in the Southeast geopolitical region to aggrieved politicians with the sitting government.
Umahi said that the Indegeneous People of Biafra, IPOB members should not be held responsible for the recent happenings in the region particularly the burning of police stations and the Killings of police Personnels.
He stated this while addressing the new AIG zone 9, Ene Okon, when he paid a courtesy visit to the governor yesterday Wednesday in Abakaliki the Ebonyi state capital.
The Govenor noted that various agitations coming from the Southeast region are genuine and said that the Southeast Governors are not in support of seccesion of the region but in support of a country where justice and equity thrives.
"The Nation Nigeria played into the hands of our restive youths because of the number of demands they are making, agitations about the southeast is being treated at the national level and when those things are repeated then our people got the impression that they are fighting for the welfare and security of our people, especially when people are due from this side to be promoted at the national level and they are not promoted, rightly or wrongly, when we are not given opportunity at the security hiarachy of the nation, the impression here is that we are not welcomed in the project Nigeria.
"It has given the governors a very difficult tasks and I am sure that the security agencies know this because it seems that a number of people, especially those who are Agrieved with government are tactically supporting them.
"But we governors of southeast we believe in one Nigeria, where fairness, equity, justice, and fair play do take place, we do not want to secced as a people, we want to be treated nicely just like other regions, and this is a fact,
"Let me say here that the situation that started by IPob has gone beyond them and I want you to note that very seriously, that Banditry and criminality are being funded by politicians and those people now take the turger of IPOB
"IPOB had in number of times came out to say if anybody is Killing police the police can kill the person because they are not our members, they have not asked their members to attack or kill the police", he said.
The governor, who condemned the recent burning of two INEC offices in Ezza North and Ebonyi Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State as well as his own filling station, allegedly caused by the members of the opposition People's Democratic Party, PDP.

Linus okorie, the PDP Ebonyi State Publicity Secretary Barr. Silas Onu, Southeast PDP Youth Leader Comrade Chidibere Egwu as well as the former SGF Senator Anyim Pius and Ebonyi State PDP Chairman, Elder Fred Odeogu, are responsible for the uprising insecurity in the area.
He urged the security agencies to be proactive in carrying out thier duties.
"It's very unfortunate that a former governor of this state, who appropriated the wealth of the state to himself could be inciting the youths of the state and nobody is doing anything.
"Only two days ago the same Dr Sam Egwu started saying that the killings of the Police are being masterminded by the Ebubeagu, which is our internal security, which tells you that he knows about the Killings.
"But let me tell you very stoutly that the same Dr Sam Egwu, Linus okorie, Ali Odefa, Chidibere Egwu, Silas Onu, Amos Ogbonnaya, Fred odoegu, they are the people that are inciting these bandits,
"They are the people, none of them has ever come out to condem the Killings of police men in the state including Anyim Pius, so don't look far, these are the people that are killing you, these are the people fighting you, if you want to find out, go to their Facebook and check," he explained.
He charged the new AIG Ene Okon to be up and doing his job irrespective of whoever is involve, adding that the security agencies must take responsibilities to save the nation from burning to criminality.
