Ebonyians commend NYSC free medical outreach for rural dwellers

Ebonyi people especially those living in the hinterlands of the state have widely commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for having kept carrying their impactful programmes to the rural communities for the benefit of the citizenry.

Some of the rural dwellers, Mr Fidelis Nwiboko, Linus Ominyi, numerous others at Iboko market in Agbenyim Mgbalukwu Community in Izzi Local Government Area of the state made the commendation when NYSC carried its free medical outreach to the area.


Recall that the NYSC has since Monday embarked on one week nationwide free medical services for rural communities in Nigeria.

The scheme, Thursday, flagged off the 2021 free medical services at Onyikwa Village in Nkaleke Echara Community in Ebonyi  Local Government Area, and has on Friday took the outreach to Iboko market square in Izzi Local Government Area, where the beneficiaries applauded the NYSC.

Speaking during at Iboko, the NYSC  State, Mrs Mercy Bamai Dawuda said the NYSC Nationwide free health services scheme has achieved a lot for the nation.

Mrs Bamai expressed happiness on how the beneficiaries welcomed them, and assured them that the programme has come to stay in the country.

“The villagers welcomed us with happiness as am talking to you, many of them are already testifying that NYSC has turned their lives around health wise.

“The healthcare scheme started in 2014 and by grace of God, it has come to stay.


"Today marked the end of 2021 exercise, it started on Monday 21st of June, 2021 with sensitisation, medical screening and distribution of drugs to those whose medical cases demanded for that,"  Mrs Bamai stated.

The State Coordinator also called on all Nigerians to give supports to NYSC to actualize their aim.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries, Mr Fidelis Nwiboko, Linus Ominyi and numerous others who spoke with our correspondent, expressed joy over the exercise and asked NYSC and Nigeria Government to continue in their good works.

They pointed out that the scheme has extremely contributed to national integration and development through the programmes took to their area.
