The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Barr Eric Kelechi Igwe has tasked leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at various wards to harmonize the list of the candidates who would emerge as the executives of the party in the forthcoming ward congress.

Igwe gave the task during an enlarged stakeholders meeting of APC at Onuebonyi Echara, the headquarters of Ikwo Local Government Area where he urged the party leaders to convoke a meeting and harmonize the list of the candidates.

According to him, the only way of ensuring peaceful and transparent ward congress is for stakeholders of every ward to desist from interfering with activities of other wards, insisting that APC as a party would not condone such act.

The Deputy Governor who explained that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was his avowed commitment to giving the State Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi the needed support in actualizing the divine mandate which is on course, and however, called for more support to the APC led government in the State.

Igwe enumerated the endearing developmental projects of the Governor in the council to include; construction of Nkwegu-AE-FUNAI Road, Onuebonyi Echara-Onuigboji Road, Agubia-Abina Road and Branch Ojon-Enyibichiri Alike Road and noted that Ikwo has never had the number of political positions it has under the present administration.

On the issue of security situation at the council, the Deputy Governor while commending the Council Chairman, Elder Stephen Orogwu for his unwavering effort in curtailing it, also directed him to convene a meeting of leaders of thought to nip the ugly incident in the bud.

He cautioned those using various social media platforms to attack government unnecessarily to look before the leap, and made it clear that the present government under Governor David Nweze Umahi has justified the mandate given to its through rapid infrastructural and human capital development.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Elder Stephen Orogwu said though the Ward Congress has been postponed to a later date, the aim of the meeting was to brainstorm on the best way of ensuring free and fair congress.

The Council Chairman who reeled out the twenty seven positions expected to emerge at the congress, said no stone would be left unturned in ensuring every activity leading to the congress is done in accordance with the constitution of the party.

An Elder Statesman, Chief Okeagu Ogadah thanked the Deputy Governor and the Council Chairman for convening the meeting, describing it as an orientation especially to the youths.

The meeting was well attended by major stakeholders of APC including the member representing EzzaSouth/Ikwo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Comrade Chinedu Ogah, represented by Professor Anthony Itumo.
