Ikwo/Izhi youth peace movement condemns abduction of innocent people in Ebonyi State

As part of efforts to completely end the unwarranted crisis which erupted between Ikwo people and their Izhi counterpart, the Ikwo/Izhi Youth Peace Development Movement, has condemned the use of commercial motorists in the abduction, killing and maiming of people from both divides in the guise for retaliation of the initial crisis between the two brother clans.

In his words, the National President, Ikwo/Izhi and in extension, Cross River/Ebonyi Youth Peace Development Movement, Barr. Pascal Nwenyi while presiding over a meeting held between the peace movement and the leadership of commercial operators in Ebonyi State, warned the miscreants who are taking advantage of the initial crisis between the two brother clans to achieve their selfish interest, to desist from such acts.

Barr. Nwenyi who appreciated the efforts of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Apostle David Nweze Umahi, the Christian Association of Nigeria Ebonyi State, and other good spirited groups and individuals in bringing lasting peace for the people of Ikwo and Izhi, also hinted that development can never be achieved in the atmosphere of rancor and acrimony, and advised those who are still nursing grudges to sheathe their sword by embracing peace, exhibiting the spirit of  peaceful coexistence which the two brother clans had hitherto enjoyed.

In an interview, the Caretaker Chairman, Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria, MTUN, Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Nicholas Ekuma and the Chairman Abakaliki Bus Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Ebonyi State Chapter, Comrade Monday Nwenyim, who was represented by the Organizing Secretary, of the union, Comrade Paul Nwoda, all warned those who are masking themselves under the umbrella of organized commercial unions to cause such heinous crimes to turn away a new leaf, as the unions are seriously determined to nab anybody or group of persons who are caught in such ungodly acts.

Also speaking, the former Coordinator, Ikwo East DC and Vice President, Ikwo/Izhi Youth  Peace Development Movement, Hon. Ovuna Dickland and Mr. Innocent Ophoke from Ikwo and Abakaliki L.G.A respectively, all advocated for peace, and advised those whose fingers are still on triggers to lay down their guns, while pledging their unreserved commitment in making sure that peace returns permanently between Ikwo and Izzi clans.
