It was an epoch making event at lli Noyo Ikwo Ancestral home as all industrious sons and daughters of Ikwo Noyo graced the 2021 Nnefioha New Yam Festival.
Comrade Chinedu Ogah, Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency began his speech by asking all to observe a minute silence for all Ikwo Noyo sons and daughters who lost their lives in all forms of war and prayed for the repose of their souls.
He commended the uncommon supports and love to the Ikwo people by Governor Dave Umahi, noting that through him, many Ikwo sons and daughters have risen to elevated positions; ranging from the Deputy Governor and the rest at both state and national level.
He added Ikwo sons who were assigned to represent in any capacity never failed the people and commended many for gracing the all important ceremony with countless gift items.
"The Deputy Governor who is our leader is right here. I am here. Chief Clement Nweke is here also. Chief Okeagu Ogada is here among others. What we all collectively advocate is for peace and everyone must embrace peace and domicile it in our various homes to enable us get more things from the government for our people".
He encouraged the elders to uphold high principles, ethical and moral values and always let truth prevail without fear or favour.
In his benediction, "this year shall be a year of progress, may ikwo Sons' and Daughters' progress in governance. For us that you all supported and we are currently occupying positions by the special grace of God, we are currently constructing for Ikwo people cultural Civil Centre at Ngagbo Ewogu which is capable of accommodating about 3000 capacities.
"What I am seeing today is very encouraging to I and others. You must do your best to induct every Ikwo Child with Ikwo culture and traditions, as such has positive influence on the life of every Ikwo Child.
"I am aware that Ikwo Noyo Cultural Carnival is scheduled for November, and l shall support it with the Sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000.00) which I will pay by 10th of October. I wish to plead with every Ikwo son and daughter, home and abroad to always make it a duty to honour Ikwo Cultural Carnival so we could make ours even better than others. We thank you our elders, and our leaders who pave way for all of us in position of power today. May God bless you all", Comrade declared.
