Ebonyi Ministry of Women Affairs to partner NAWOJ to sensitize females


Ebonyi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Tuesday, expressed her readiness to partner the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), to sensitize women on various issues affecting them in the society especially those at the rural areas.


The Commissioner for women affairs in the state Mrs .Chinwe Okah, made this known during a courtesy visit to the ministry by the leadership of NAWOJ in the state.

Mrs. Chinwe Okah, while receiving the women journalists, expressed delight over the visit and also congratulated the chairperson on her successful election and assured them of the Ministry's readiness to partner to ensure that the less privileged and disabled in the society are adequately taken care of.

She equally appreciated NAWOJ for the selfless service rendered to the victims of the Benue Fulani attack which affected Ebonyi indigenes. 

Mrs. Okay as well commended NAWOJ for other life-touching activities carried out.

The Commissioner who stated that the mandate of the ministry was in line with the activity of the association, expressed optimism that they will work harmoniously together to achieve their common goal.

Earlier in her address, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Ebonyi council, Comrade Nkechinyere Oginyi, outlined the achievements so far recorded by the Association which includes;  visitation and donation of relief items to Ebonyi victims of the Benue State attack and also the school sensitization exercise during the 2021 world menstrual hygiene day, amongst others.

She however appealed for NAWOJ to be given the opportunity to partner with the Ministry to ensure that the activities and programs of the State Government are promoted.

Comrade Oginyi further solicited support to enable them to carry out a sensitization program on safety and crises management to the communal crisis areas in the state.

In her submission, Mrs. Angela Mbaocha said NAWOJ Was optimistic that the commissioner will fulfill her promise to partner with the group while thanking her for the opportunity to interact with her.
