The Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State, Chief Hon Stanley Okoro-Emegha has described his Governor, Engr Chief (Dr) David Nweze Umahi as a pragmatic and goal-oriented leader who believes in the potentialities of the younger generation.
Chief Okoro-Emegha made the description when traditional rulers from Afikpo South Local Government Area paid him a solidarity visit on Saturday, 18th September, 2021 in Abakakili, the state capital.
He stated that Governor Umahi has develop the infrastructure which is very critical to economic growth and development of the young state, adding that the people now have a positive orientation on what governance in a democratic setting means.
While applauding his magnanimity cum mentorship programme aimed at mainstreaming young people into governance as a way of sustaining his legacies of hard work and commitment to one's father land, Chief Emegha re-emphasised that the Governor also gave prestige to traditional rulers in the state by making sure they all have private cars and juicy monthly salary for upkeep.
"Before now most traditional rulers in Ebonyi State were seen as people living in penury due to their despicable conditions but today, the honour bestowed on them by my Boss and Father, the governor, has given them much recognition not only before their subjects but also their contemporary beyond the shores of Ebonyi."
The party chieftain also appreciated the efforts of the custodians of culture in the fight against criminalities, and urged them to do more in championing campaign on zero tolerance to criminalities and communal crisis which is a major security threat that often times rears it's ugly head in the state.
"I'm very excited and honoured to have with me the presence of my fathers and men of great influence and wisdom. Your show of support to my ambition in the forthcoming Congress of my great party is another signal that sends shivers down to my spine. May I promise you that I will never disappoint you and I'm very open for your advice any time to help consolidate on the achievements of our indefatigable Governor in the state and beyond"
The Caretaker Chairman pledged to remain a true son of Edda land and Ebonyi State in general.
Earlier, the chairman, Traditional Rulers of Afikpo South council area, His Royal Highness, Eze Charles Azuenya who expressed satisfaction with the excellent performances of their illustrious son, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha in various positions of authority he has held, said they would always support his ambition even as he aspires to become the substantive state Chairman of his party. The Traditional Rulers conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the state governor for showing great interest in their son as well as the construction of "Ugwu Iyere" bridge in their area, which is one of the best.
Recall that the intention of Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha to contest the Chairmanship position of the All Progressives Congress APC in the State was made known to the public when a poster of his captioned "The Eagle Has Landed" went viral on the different social media handles such as Facebook on Wednesday, 15th September, 2021. Since then, different interest groups, organizations and individuals have continued to show support to his candidature in the forthcoming State Congress of the party.
