The immediate past Governor of Ebonyi State and Chieftain of
the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Martin Elechi have released his
fatherly blessings on the caretaker Executive of the All Progressives Congress
APC Ebonyi State, led by Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, as they prepare for the
state Congress scheduled for October 16th,2021.
Chief Elechi gave his blessings to the party Executive when the caretaker Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha led other state Executive on a courtesy call to the elder statesman in his Ochudo Centenary City home, Abakaliki on Wednesday.
Elechi expressed Joy over the visit, noting that the action the caretaker Executive displayed is rare in today’s politics and promised not to take it for granted.
Elechi stressed the need for unity and stability in the political
process of the party and called for politics of tolerance and rancor free among political parties and actors in the country
and Ebonyi state in particular.
"We must live in peace with ourselves and members of other opposition parties. Everyone has constitutional right to belong to any party of choice and we shouldn't in any way see people in other parties as enemies. The peace of the state is paramount which everyone should preach. Fair play in election is also important, and we should always eschew violence since we are all one".
Chief Elechi expressed delight over the way and manner the party affairs and the internal election has been conducted, describing the state Governor as a true party administrator, in his word “a PhD in political Engineering". He further commended the steps taken so far by the caretaker Chairman of the party towards repositioning and enthroning unity of purpose in the party, as a step in the right direction, maintaining that he is proud to be part of the All Progressives Congress APC family in this particular point in time, and can beat up his chest to say that the state chapter of the party is best in the country, assuring of his support at all times.
"The past congresses were peaceful which the governor, Chief Umahi was instrumental to, and I sent him a text message, that he is now a 'Ph.D in political Engineering' for making us proud which gave Ebonyi name as the state that conducted the most peaceful congress in the whole country. The governor was happy with the assessment and promised to double the peaceful disposition in the subsequent party's activities", Elechi expressed.,
Earlier, that caretaker Chairman, chief Stanley Okoro Emegha
said, they were in his house to have a chat with him and intimate him of their plans
to obtain form and stand for election in the forth coming state Congresses.
"We all agreed that we wouldn't pick up forms without first notifying you as an elder statesman and one of the strong pillars of our party, hence this visit. We are so lucky to have you in our party. You're a big name and your appearance in our party speaks volume. From time to time, we shall continue to come seeking your fatherly advice to moving the state and party forward.
"Our party is for all and it's an empire built by our peace-loving governor, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi which everyone shall benefit from. He has made the party very strong in southeast and connected us to the centre which has been beneficial to all of us. We are glad that both of you are working together for the progress of our people", Chief Emegha said.,
Emegha pointed out that the overwhelming support, fatherly advice and chief Elechi's presence in all party's function is enough moral booster for them and Pleadged to build on the legacies already laid, promising not to disappoint the trust and confidence the leaders and party bestowed on them.
He promised to always come from time to time to tap from the wealth of knowledge and experience of Chief Elechi in the running of the affires of the party.
In a vote of thanks, the State Caretaker Secretary of the party, Hon Charles Ofoke thanked Chief Elechi for the warm reception accorded them, noting that the fatherly counsel they have received him will be a guide in the smooth running of the party. He applauded the selfless, transparent and examplary leadership style of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, stating that he is a leader he will always love to work with any time any day.
