...Builds House for officers and men of police force
Three bedroom flats and nine self contained apartments are currently been constructed in the thirteen Local Government Areas of Ebonyi state to help address the issue of housing deficit among the officers and men of the Nigerian police force serving in the state.
This is part of the calculated efforts of Governor David Umahi's administration to reposition the force in order to enhance effective and efficient policing at the nooks and crannies of the state
The Special Security Consultant (SSC) to the Ebonyi State Government, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha revealed this while inspecting some of the facilities at Owutu Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state on 24th October, 2021.
In his words" His Excellency, the Governor and father of the state made this promise about five months ago and today it is a reality with the buildings in the thirteen council areas at different levels of completion. This one here is a prototype of what the Governor is putting in place to provide befitting accommodations for the Divisional Police Officers DPO's who will make use of the three bedroom flats while the junior officers will reside in the self contained apartments".
Eulogising the Governors unfiltered zeal and enthusiasm to reposition the police, the Special Security Consultant SSC who also doubles as the Chairman-elect of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha said the government will also furnish the buildings with the arts of the state facilities before handing them over to the beneficiaries within few months to come.
Chief Emegha explained that the administration of Governor David Umahi has provided body protective wears, operational vehicles, modern communication gadgets among other facilities to help the police in conjunction with other sister agencies to curb insecurity in the state. He went further to attribute the appreciable level of peace in the state to the calculated investment so far made in security architecture and called on Governors in the South East region and beyond to emulate the leadership tenacity of Chief David Umahi.
While recounting the present realities which he described as most unfortunate and barbaric confronting the officers and men of the force in the cause of discharging their constitutional mandate, Chief Emegha applead to the general public to desist from any act capable of endangering their lives and collaborate with them in the fight against hoodlums by volunteering useful information that could help nib crime in the bud.
"The APC administration is fully committed to the security of lives and property of the people because it is the primary responsibility of every rational Government to do such. However, these attacks on police formations are unwarranted not just because we are making ourselves also porous to all forms of aggression but these people that are being killed are our fathers, brothers, husbands and children. A glossary look at the destroyed facilities will tell you that they hoodlums are missing it totally. The massive destruction is making it difficult to demand for accountability from leaders because they are using resources meant for development to fix damages. It is high time mischief makers should have a rethink and embrace the anmesty the state state Governor, Chief David Nweze Umahi has been offering. Remember, crisis is an evil wind that blows no one any good". Said Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
Furthermore, the security guru who advised that the youths to shun all forms of restiveness urged them to embrace dialogue as the only option to building an egalitarian society.
Independent Observers, are of the opinion that the Special Security Consultant and former Commissioners for Internal Security Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Ebonyi State Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha is manifestly delivering the security template of Governor David Umahi hence prioritizing the protection of lives and property of the citizenry.
Security is one area Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Governor David Umahi has made an indelible mark just as he did in the infrastructural development of the state.
