"COMMUNIQUE' ISSUED BY MEMBERS OF ONLINE MEDIA PRACTITIONERS EBONYI STATE CHAPTER AFTER THEIR EXTRAORDINARY SESSION HELD TODAY,28th SEPTEMBER,2021 IN ABAKALIKI.
"The Online Media Practitioners, Ebonyi State Chapter at the end of her Extra ordinary meeting, reviewed developments in Ebonyi state and the entire South East geopolitical zone, particularly the security situation in the region vis-a-vis the Sit-at-home order and the weeping empathy due to the incaceration of mazi Nnamdi Kanu and resolved as follows:
"The Association sincerely, commended Ebonyi state Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi for bringing peace in all parts of the state after it was earlier faced with communal crisis among various clans such as the Ezza/EzzaEffium, Isinkwo/ Abaomege, Igbeagu/ Ukelle, Enyibichiri/ Enyigba and host of others".
"We, appreciate the former Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, who is now Special Security Consultant to Ebonyi State Government, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha for his working synergy with other security agencies in the state which helped the state to come out of the security challenges stronger and better.
On the issue of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and as it concerns the recent Sit-at-home order, Online Media Practitioners Ebonyi State Chapter resolved as follows:
"We frowned at South East Leaders especially our past and present Governors, National and state Assembly members over their negligence and inability to convince the people who have been continually demanding for self emancipation due to result of failed leadership orchestrated by injustice and disregard for equity.
"Consequently, the failed government as seen with it's incurable stigma for Ndigbo has metamorphosed to what is today called Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, with the people constitutionally demanding for self governance, resulting to their leadership enforcing Sit-at-home order after Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was rearrested to press home his release from incarceration in the DSS custody.
" The association, therefore, challenge South East leaders to rise to their responsibility by constructively interfacing with relevant stakeholders, the federal government and it's agencies towards finding a Political solution to the issue.
"We noted with delight and relieve, "Call off of the weekly Sit-at-home order by leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB as was observed last Monday.
"The Association after carefully reviewing the level of mayhem some miscreants seized the opportunity to unleash on the people, their lives, businesses, property and psyche, deemed it necessary to call leaders of South East extraction to urgently mediate on the demand of the people by interfacing with the federal government and other concern individuals as to permanently closed the gap of maladministration that erupted the demand for self states and unconditionally release the IPOB leader from detention as requested by the people.
"We however appeal to our people not to allow anyone destroy our region in whatever disguise.
"It is unarguably that the level of development recorded in the region so far in both infrastructure, human, social and otherwise since after the civil war were all gotten with the sincere efforts of the people who believe in self establishment and entreprise.
" While we faulted the questionable characters display by leaders of the zone in their inability to keep political indifferences outside to uniting for a common purpose, urged the people not to allow few individuals sponsored by enemies of Ndigbo to destabilize our Economy and sweat.
“As a people, we cannot begin to undermine our communal contributions that made us who we are by becoming our own nemesis.
"Consequently, why we must fight for our rights and legitimately express our displeasure over the marginalization, injustice and inequality suffered in the acclaimed united nation, we should endeavour to encourage our people by introducing policies that would enhance businesses and prosper our Economy Hence, we should not allow any loophole associated with unlawful display of our demands by any person or groups in whatever disguise to jeopardize our Economy.
"To this end, we call on all political leaders in South East to come together irrespective of party affiliation or religious believe to rebuild the already lost confidence by listening to the peoples' cry and proffer a lasting solution before the region will be plunge into another civil war".
