The Uburu Elders Forum on Thursday, toured round some strategic projects of Ebonyi State Government under the administration of Engr David Nweze Umahi.
The elders in their numbers took tour of the landmark projects within the Uburu Community and Abakaliki Capital City.
Some of projects inspected are the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the Ebonyi South Industrial Cluster, the Flyovers within the Uburu Community, King David University of Medical sciences and the network of roads constructed with concrete rigid pavements. Others are the Christian Ecumenical center, the twin flyover at Akanu Ibiam junction, the Margaret Umahi international market, the Shopping Mall, the International Airport among others.
Speaking during the tour, the Chairman of the forum, Elder Ajah Nwobasi, who could not hide his feelings, appreciated God for giving the state such a courageous and selfless leader imbued with formidable determination and intelligence. He prayed God to bless the Community and the state with more of such Leaders.
Reading out their letter of commendation after the tour, the secretary of the forum, Elder Nestor Chukwu Aneke posited that Governor Umahi's modest achievements since May 29th 2015 he assumed Leadership of the state has remained a great challenge to his colleague Governors, who started the same time with him.
He said, "here, we briefly mention some of His Excellency's important achievements in Ebonyi State. sufix it to say that three gigantic Flyovers exist in the capital city, Abakaliki where there was none when His Excellency assumed office. Other important projects followed immediately, such as street lights in towns and villages. All roads in Ebonyi State have been made of concrete surface to withstand all weather. Other Flyovers are in the making at Uburu, Edda Onuebonyi etc. Important bridges have been constructed to connect villages and towns. Ring roads have been made to connect villages and towns. Primary and secondary Schools have been renovated and new ones built. Other projects that connects your name with your administration include; Margaret Umahi international market, Ebonyi shopping mall, Ebonyi State fertilizer plant, Ebonyi State international Airport, New Ebonyi State Government House at Ochudo centenary City etc. You challenged civil Engineering as a profession by all these infrastructural edifice", he enumerated.
Elder Nestor Chukwu Aneke stated further that the elders forum went out for the inspection in appreciation of the Governor's modest achievements in the last six years on the saddle.
"Today, your Elders have come to appreciate you, our Governor, because of your tremendous achievements since you assumed office in 2015. That calls for our great admiration. Whenever we gaze round Ebonyi, we see new important development springing up being a new contribution to your good work. We are therefore, enthused to visit you in admiration and encouragement", he stated.
Other speakers at the end of the exercise include; High Chief Jacobson Okey, Elder Anthony Ivoh, Elder Matthew Njoku and elder Anthony Ekwe among others, took turn to eulogize the tremendous achievements of the Governor.
Meanwhile, an ardent supporter of Governor David Umahi's administration and the supervisory councilor for Education, Abakaliki Local Government, Mr Reuben Offor, accompanied the Elders Forum on the tour.
High point of the exercise were chanting of solidarity songs and a special intercessory prayer for the Governor and his family led by the Vice Chairman of the Elders Forum, Elder Elias Ngene, who prayed God to guide, protect and give the Governor a higher Leadership ground come 2023.
