According to the Holy Scripture, "Love is the greatest" and this love at a moment like this is what can best be described as what the good people of Edda clan has benefited from His Excellency, Engr Chief Apostle David Nweze Umahi FNSE, FNATE, (AKUBARAOHA).
Edda Clan is one of the homogenous LGA in Ebonyi State known by the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria as Afikpo South LGA with11 federal wards and 72 villages with an area land mass of about 378 km2 (146 sq mi) with a sizable population whose predominant occupation is farming and trading population. It has a very rich cultural heritage and background dating back to history.
His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE over time has shown his sentiments of love and care towards the people of Edda clan without reservations.
Recall that in 2007 when he became the State Chairman of the then rulling party in Ebonyi State, he ensured that a son of Edda clan, in the person of Prince Ugorji Ama Oti who had just finished his tenure as a member of the State's House of Assembly after 8years in office became the Ebonyi South Zonal Chairman, and in 2011 when he became a Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, he also made sure that same Prince Ama Oti became the State's Chairman of the Party to replace him in that capacity.
It is important to also state here that, it was under the leadership of Engr. David Nweze Umahi as the State Chairman that one of the political leaders in Edda, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji was elected as Ebonyi South Senator in 2011. It is instructive to recollect that he, (Umahi) was still highly instrumental to the success of Senator Ogbuoji's second term bid as a Senator in 2015, thereby breaking the jinx of one term Senate in Ebonyi South.
In 2019, Umahi's enduring love for the Edda CLAN still manifested exceedingly, when against all odds, he allowed and single-handedly brought in another Edda son, Senator Michael Ama Nnachi to Senate, thereby making Edda LGA the only council area to have occupied the Senate position consecutively for 3 terms of 12 years.
As Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Umahi have also continuously demonstrated his special love for Edda clan, via his gigantic projects, being executed in Edda.
Anybody who knows Edda, will agree that road infrastructure is the no.1 priority of our people and His Excellency, Engr. Umahi understanding this, did not hesitate to embark on the construction of UMAHITECHNOLOGY(8Inches Cement Concrete) Road in the Amasiri-Amangwu-Owutu-Itim-Igbara-Ebunwana-Ogwuma-Ekoli-Nguzu Edda Road which is nearing 95% completion with an assurance that it will soon be fully completed.
The Amangwu twin brigde which had almost totally collapsed before he became Governor has since been reconstructed for the good use and benefit of our people.
Governor Umahi has also embarked on the same quality road construction as above on the Owutu-Amaoso-Ezi Edda-Amaigbo-Ekeje-Amaiyi-Nguzu Edda Road which is still ongoing.
Oso-Owutu road is not left out from Governor Umahi expression of love to Edda People as the construction of that road is ongoing too.
The greatest of them all is that Governor Umahi has done and is doing what many Edda Men if given same opportunity may not have done; which is the construction of the longest brigde at Ugwu Iyere; a part of the road that was dreaded due to the bad hilly and sloppy condition have taken many lives in their hundreds. It is this LOVE for the Eddans that moved the Governor to such great work and a visit to the site will convince anyone that work is religiously and sincerely going on there and now at to over 70%completion. Day and Night from when the said project commenced, workers have continously been seen putting in their very best to ensure quality and timely completion of the brigde project.
The design of the Ugwu-Iyere bridge construction can only better be seen than imagined as the Governor intends to turn this former gory site to a world class tourist centre where people from far and near can come for leisure, the centre will be equipped with modern facilities with a police post for adequate security of lives and properties.
The construction 'god', Umahi not yet done with Edda CLAN has initiated and secured the approval of Ebonyi State Executive Council for the construction of the Ekoli-Letu-Ekata-Itim-Owutu Edda road as work is expected to start there, latest in February 2022.
These roads when completed will position Edda for greater economic Resurgence and Improvement as the gateway to Ebonyi State. Our mothers in their industrious disposition can now freely move their farm products to and fro markets of their choices within and beyond the Edda clan.
To crown it all especially in terms of political empowerment, the Governor ever since he became Governor has always given Edda CLAN two slots for appointment into Commissionership positions with other numerous appointments.
Lately, Governor Umahi as opportunity called again, graciously nominated another son of Edda clan in the person of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha as the Caretaker Chairman of the rulling All Progressive Congress. Not done yet, he also immensely supported the same Chief Okoro Emegha to emerge as the Chairman-Elect of A.P.C. in the State for which he(Umahi) proved himself an honest Leader with a large heart for his people.
It is important for Eddans to understand that this particular show of love to our people by Governor Umahi via our son Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, has placed Eddans as the first set of people to be assured of a place in the next Government which will come in place by 2023 and we must be grateful to God.
It now behoves on us all to rally and mobilize support for this great lover of our clan.
We should eschew bitterness or selfishness and embrace Governor Umahi to ensure we reciprocate this unimaginable and undying love he has shown to our people.
Let Eddans in particular and indeed, Ebonyians in general also make our Thanksgiving and appreciation of these uncommon show of love, passion, commitment and dexterity for a people once almost totally abandoned, profoundly loud; audible to the deaf and visible to the blind. For according to Mark Twain, “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”
Therefore, I call on all political gladiators, business moguls, Civil Servants, Students, Artisans and Farmers of Edda CLAN to sincerely support our wonder working Governor, His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE as that will spur him to do more for our people and that way Edda will be a better place for us all.
It is well, for Umahi remains The Answer!
