The State Chairmen of Nigeria's ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), on Thursday 16 December 2021, paid a solidarity visit to the national leadership of the party. In an address delivered by the State Chairman of the Party in Delta State, Engr Omeni Sobotie, on behalf of State Chairmen of the party, passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, the National Chairman of the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
Receiving the Chairmen on behalf of the National Chairman, the National Secretary of the Party, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Ph.D; commended the efforts of the State Chairmen, and thanked them for their loyalty and dedication to the party.
Senator Akpanudoedehe said, in spite of most Chairmen not returning to their offices, they have remained steadfast to the party, and her leadership
The Delta State Chairman reiterated that the solidarity visit became necessary after the news reached them that some people, unknown to the Party, allegedly claimed to have removed the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) from office, likened such aberration, in a constitutional democracy, to a coup d’etat, and submitted that such illegality finds no fertile ground under a democratic government.
Responding to the Chairmen, the Party’s National Secretary said those who made the claim to have removed the CECPC from office are miscreants, whom the Party refused to dignify with a response.
He commended the contributions of well meaning youths in the country to national development, and noted that the miscreants have nothing to contribute to the collective good, but avail themselves as surrogates of persons who seek the destabilization of the country.
Senator Akpanudoedehe reminded the Chairmen of the Social Insurance Programs of the Buhari administration, which no government, since the inception of democratic rule in Nigeria, dishes N750,000 to as many Nigerians, from every sector of endeavour, who applied to the program.
He reminded his guests of the how the Buhari administration ensures the prompt payments of salaries and pensions, and how the incumbent administration inherited communities in Nigeria which were annexed by terrorists, where they hoisted their flags, and how the government halted that advance by retaking annexed communities. They are left with being criminals.
Senator Akpanudoedehe also used the visit to encourage the Chairmen to double up their efforts for the Party and to discountenance the rants of the newly inaugurated Chairman of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator (Dr) Iyorchia Ayu, who predicted the collapse of the APC, and assured his visitors that it won’t be a Party whose officials were freaky with spending public funds on frivolities and personal fantasies that would take power from the ruling party. He said Nigerians are wise people and they appreciate the gains the APC has brought into governance.
He thanked the APC State Chairmen for their forthrightness and called for more synergy between them and the leadership of the Party
