Nigeria Union of journalist (NUJ) Ebonyi State council have expressed satisfaction with the level development recorded in the state under the watch of Governor David Umahi.
This was contained in a communique raised after the council's Congress held on Thursday at the Press Center, Abakaiki.
The six point communique which harped on the need to ensure the safety of the practitioners, equally, Commended the state Governor, David Umahi for his bold declaration to contest for the president of Nigeria come 2023 general election.
The communique reads in full;
"COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF MONTHLY CONGRESS OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS, NUJ EBONYI STATE COUNCIL HELD AT DR. SAM EGWU PRESS CENTRE, ABAKALIKI ON 24th FEBRUARY, 2022.
"After exhustive deliberation on critical issues affecting Journalists in the state, the affairs of the Council and the general political atmosphere in the State, the Union resolved as follows.
"That as the Fourth Estate of the Realm, the Union appreciates it's members for displaying high sense of responsibility, commitment and dedication to the discharge of their duties.
"That members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ebonyi State are more than ever committed to sustaining their contribution to the socio economic and political development of the state through objective News reportage and publications.
"That the Council is working assiduously to ensure the safety of journalists in their line of duty as preparation for 2023 Election gets underway and calls on Security agencies and major actors in political circle to see Journalists as partners in progress.
"That the NUJ in Ebonyi State is satisfied with the overwhelming infrastructural and human capital development taking place across the state courtesy of the state Governor, Engr. Apostle David Nweze Umahi and urge him not to relent in restoring the lost glory of the state.
"That NUJ Ebonyi State commends His Excellency Chief David Nweze Umahi for accepting the clarion call by the people of the state to contest the Presidential Election come 2023 and enjoined Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion or political leaning to support his aspiration for equity, political inclusiveness and a better Nigeria.
"That the Union assures him of it's support by ensuring that his numerous good projects, policies and progress continue to dominate media spaces to the glory of God".
