2023; Ex NASS Member Declares Intention For Ebonyi Governorship Seat; Vows To Consolidate On Umah'is Legacy

Pioneer Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and former Senator of Ebonyi central Senatorial zone, Senator Julius Ucha, on Wednesday, at Ebonyi APC Secretariat in Abakaliki, declared his intention to contest for Ebonyi State number one seat come 2023 election.

Ucha said, he is in the party Secretariat to inform the party leadership of his intention to contest for the governorship of the state, assuring that he will consolidate on the Infrastructural legacies of Governor David Umahi and create a better future for Ebonyi people.

Senator Julius Ucha, who is the first in APC to declare his intention to succeed Governor Umahi, maintained that though, he is not desperate for the job, but said, he remains the best candidate for the job, considering his pedigree and wealth of experience.

Ucha said, he is aware of the zoning commitee set up by the party to come up with zoning arrangement that will ensure peace in the party, promised to abide by the any zoning arrangement that the party may come up with.

Ucha said, “I am here to inform the party leadership of my intention to run for the governorship of Ebonyi state, come 2023. It is over a month now that the political space was thrown open by our leader and we are also aware that the zoning arrangement is that the governorship position with either go to Ebonyi Central or North”.

“We also aware that the zoning committee has been graciously put in place to the micro zoning of where the governorship will go to. I am a man that complies with the rules.

“One thing I have told myself is that i am not a desperate person. I have never been desperate. Nothing bothers me. My Hypertension is 110/70. We have to work hard and not take anything for granted”.

“I have told myself that I have a duty if by the Special Grace of God and elected the Governor of Ebonyi State; to maintain the standard of infrastructural development already put in place by the present administration; to sustain the gain and legacies which Governor Umahi already put in place and to secure the future of the people of Ebonyi state”.

“While maintaining the standard and sustaining the gains; in securing the future, the governor has laid the foundation for human resource development and empowerment. I will consolidate the human resource development and empowerment through education, agriculture, through sustenance of the state of the art health facility and through industrialization”, Ucha promised.

The Governorship aspirant further urged the APC leadership in the state to open the space at the local areas so that aspirants can start to reach out to people and make the party vibrant in all the nooks and crannies of the State.

Responding, the state APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha applauded the aspirant for the bold step he has taken, assuring him of the party's resolve to give all aspirants level playing field and ensure that only the best candidate flies the party's flag at all levels.

Emegha urged all party leaders in the state to ensure the sustenance of peace and unity existing in the party, noting that only credible, acceptable and saleable candidates will fly the  party's flag come 2023.
