The event which was held at San Diego hotels, Abakaiki, with the theme 'Building with Integrity', had in attendance, professional builders and students of building technology from tertiary institutions within the state.
Speaking during the event, the National treasurer, Nigeria Institute of Building, Bldr. Chinasa Nwekete urged members to imbibe the tenants of the profession, get themselves certified and a re-certified to make them fit in proper in the profession.
He warned against unprofessional conducts, stressing that such will not give the profession, the required leverage to thrive.
Bldr. Nwekete urged the public to ensure they patronize only professional builders in order to get quality service delivery and minimize the menace of insessant building collapse in the country.
Speaking earlier, the state Chairman, Bldr. Eduge Joseph enjoined members to be good ambassadors of the profession, shurn those act capable of denting the image and reputation of the profession. He noted that opportunities abound and urge members to avail themselves at all times. He urge members to reach out to other profession builders with the aim of becoming members, so as to form a common front in pursuit of the welfare and progress of the profession.
On his part, the state Assistant Secretary, Bldr. Okoro Offor Joshua, (Majesty), called on the students to ensure they get inducted into the profession as soon as possible to enable them fit in properly, and in turn creat jobs for themselves and others and enjoy the benefits embedded in the profession. He urge them to avoid cutting corners, but rather follow the rules of engagement in the profession.
Earlier, the students and members were conducted round the Ebonyi State International Airport and other strategic projects in the state for site seeing and also to have a practical impact and guide on the profession.
High point of the event was question and answer section, were the students were exposed to the core rudiments of the profession.
In a vote of thanks, the public relations officer, Bldr. Christian Mgbeahuru, thanked God for a successful 2022 builders day. He commended the resources persons, the members and students for their immeasurable contributions and prayed God to bless and lead them back home safely.
