The Directorate of Research and Development, Federal School of Dental Technology, FEDECODTTEN, Enugu in collaboration with IEEE, Southeast Sub-section and African Higher Education and Research Observatory, UK on Wednesday began series of intellectual voyages into the world of technology in its inaugural symposium.
Owing to the floodgates of innovation brought about by research, the need to sustain it becomes necessary.
With the theme, Technology Integration In The 21st Century Academic Careers and Socioeconomic Development, the symposium sought to dig into the world of technological breakthroughs as it is solitarily tied to innovation.
In his opening remark, the Rector of the College, Dr. John Emaimo declared that "technology is the bedrock of the desired revolution in the academic sector".
He expressed confidence in the Research Directorate of the College, saying "through the Directorate of Research and Development, I am particularly elated that our College has joined the international community in innovative technology"
Speaking during the event held at the Simi Johnson Hall, the Director, Directorate of Research and Development, Rev. Sr. Dr. Henrietta Uzoeto explained that the symposium aims to "promote the advancement of learning through teaching, research, dissemination of knowledge following offices international best practices.
"The essence is to bring the best of our students and make them capable of facing the vicissitudes of life in our global world.
"Our vision is to work with together with members of the faculties, the
staff the students, and alumni in providing world class education in our time".
Presenting a keynote paper, Professor Fabian Ezema argued that nanotechnology has played a crucial role in all sectors, calling on tiers of government to fund research.
While presenting a paper on "How to Write Impact Factor Research Papers and "Presentation on Grants and Best Practices" Dr. Kennedy Okafor urged academics increase research as society's problems are solved through it.
The event featured goodwill messages from Society of Dental Technologist, Institute of Social Work, IEEE and others.
