The Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, have again reiterated that Governor David Umahi remains the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, warning that the state will resist with all known means, any attempt by desperate politicians to take over the governance of the state through the back door.
Chief Emegha, in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki, explained that the distraction orchestrated by ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which ordered for the removal of Governor David Umahi and his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe was just a mere momental distraction, expressing confidence in appellate court to correct the errors of the Federation High Court.
The Ebonyi APC helmsman emphasized that it is ridiculous for a man like Idu Igariwey, to believe that Governorship position is by appointment, stressing that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and electoral act spelt out procedures for one to be Governor of a state, same as his removal. "There are three ways whereby a Governor can vacate his office: it's either by death, resignation and impeachment", he said.
Emegha urged the Governor not be distracted by the antics of those he described as 'desperate politicians' whose stock in trade is to drag the state back to her ugly old days, assuring him that Ebonyians are solidly with him.
"I want to urge the Governor not to be distracted but to remain focused on his developmental agenda for the State."
He called on all the members of the party and indeed, all Ebonyians to remain calm as Governor David Umahi is still the Governor and will continue to be, till May, 29th 2023 when he will completing his statutory tenure.
"I want to urge all APC members to remain calm and law-abiding as there's no cause for alarm. I want to urge the Governor to be focused on his developmental strides that he is doing in Ebonyi State."
