The National President, Ikwo Development Union (IDU), Dr. Sam Nte Egwu, on Monday, charged members of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners on the need to champion those courses that will stimulate all round development in Ikwo.
Dr. Egwu stated this when the National President of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners, Comrade Samuel Nwanchor led other members on familiarization visit to the leadership of IDU.
Addressing members of the Association, the National President of IDU, Dr. Sam Nte Egwu having recognized the place of the media in national development, charged them to continue to champion the course of developing Ikwo Noyo Clan.
He said that the level of school enrollment in Ikwo is dwindling and urged the media Practitioners to embark on sensitization campaign aimed at reversing the ugly tide and stemming insecurity in the area.
According to Dr Egwu, IDU and Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners are already partnership in the project of developing Ikwo and therefore thanked the Association for coming together and for placing the interest of Ikwo people above every other consideration.
On his part, the Vice President 11 of IDU and Head of Political Science Department, Ebonyi State University, Professor Anthony Itumo and Vice President 1 of IDU, Chief Oliver Eze appreciated members of the Association for the visit and applauded the "Odulema Ikwo" a dialectical radio programme of the Association geared towards promoting Ikwo cultural heritage, saying that it should be sustained.
Earlier in a speech, the National President, Association of Ikwo Noyo Media Practitioners, Comr. Samuel Nwanchor, enumerated programmes of the Association to include; organizing Media Summit that has helped in reducing election related violence and continues promotion of Ikwo Noyo cultural heritage through her "Odulema Ikwo" a weekly dialectical radio programme among others.
He called for partnership with IDU to sensitize people of Ikwo on the need to ending insecurity, drug abuse and decline in enrollment of school children in Ikwo.
Comr. Nwanchor thanked IDU for being in the forefront of developing Ikwo and assured of the Association's support at all time.
