Nigeria Hunters Council, Ebonyi State Command, have called on president Mohammed Buhari to give his assent to the Nigeria Hunters Council and forest security bill before him, to guarantee the safety of our forest resource across the country.
This was the message delivered by the Ebonyi State Commander of the Council, Mr Larry I. Igwe during a solidarity rally by the officers and men of the Hunters Council in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, in appreciation to the National Assembly for the speedy and timely passage of the bill.
Igwe maintained that Mr President's assent to the bill will give them the legal leverage to comb the forest and other vast estates currently, under the occupation of kidnappers, bandits, terrorist and other criminal elements across the country.
Commander Larry Igwe thanked the officers for the massive turnout for the solidarity road walk. He assured them that very soon, their dreams will come to fruition.
'it is our humble honor to see ourselves in this mood because, Nigeria Senate and National Assembly at large have done a great job for us. On this note, we decided to show appreciation to what the Senate did to us on 12th of this month, by passing the Nigeria Hunters Council and forest security bill into law waiting for our president assent, that is why our able and amiable Commander General, Osetimehin Joshua Wole, give the directive, that we should this day, give honor to whom the honor is due. We equally appreciate God for giving us the wisdom and strength to fight the battle to this moment. It is my single honor as the Commander of Ebonyi State Command, Mr Igwe Larry I, to join other states of Nigeria and Abuja to appreciate the 9th Assembly for the wonderful job they did to us. I, equally appreciate the Nigeria Police, the civil Defense, the DSS, and the Army for the synergy already existing among us. I urge Mr President to hear the yearnings of Nigeria and assent to the Hunters Council and forest security bill into law to end up the huge estate the bandits have taken across the country", he concluded.
Other officers who spoke with our reporter include, Commander Nwachi Michael, Ebonyi State Deputy Commander, Nigeria Hunters Council, Commander Paulinus Attah of Ohaukwu Command, Commander Inya Eze Inya of Afikpo North Command and Elder Emmanuel Agwu, State Leader, anti- terrorism unit, applauded the Senate for the courage to pass the Nigeria Hunters Council and forest security bill into law assuring that if Mr President gives his assent to the bill, they will repossess all forest that have been taken over by criminals and terrorists.
