Two suspected ritualists were on Sunday, April 24, 2022, arrested by the police in Kwara State with fresh human head and hands.
The suspects, according to the command’s spokesman (PPRO), SP Okansanmi Ajayi, were on a motorbike on Oke-Oyi/Jebba Road, at about 11:30 am, when they ran into the Command’s Operation Harmony policemen on stop-and-search.
“They attempted evading the officers on stop and search duty, an action that aroused the operatives’ suspicion, who hotly chased and forced them to a stop”, the PPRO said, adding that, “In the process of searching them, a bag containing a fresh human head and hands were found in their possession”.
On interrogation, the suspects, 35-year-old Wasiu Omonose, of Abioye Compound and Akanbi Ibrahim, 32 of Sayo Street, both in Share, confessed to taking the human parts to an Islamic cleric (Alfa) in Ilorin, for ritual purpose.
The state Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, in his reaction, warned criminal elements to relocate from Kwara, saying: “the Police Command would not fold its arms and allow criminals of whatever nomenclature to truncate the peace and harmony presently existing in Kwara State”.
CP Assayomo further warned that, “Any person or group of persons found in any manner attempting to initiate the breakdown of law and order in the state would be arrested and made to bear the full wrath of the law”.
The police boss, however, said that suspects would be prosecuted as soon as investigation was completed.
