Leadership has been described as bedrock for societal development, and that heads of MDAs and top government functionaries play key roles in enthroning accountable, effective and transparent service delivery at all levels of government.
This was made known at a three days leadership and management training for Ebonyi State top government officials, heads of ministries, departments and agencies.
The training organized by USAID State2State Activity was held at Nike Lake Resort Enugu from Wednesday April 27th to Friday April 29th, 2022.
Declaring the training open, the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, appreciated the good works of State2State Activity which has transformed Ebonyi State to a higher level through technical, financial and capacity building support.
The SSG who was represented by the State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Stephen Odoh noted that State2State team are worthy partners, especially in the drive to make Ebonyi State a reference model for economic development, accountability, effective leadership and public service delivery.
He called on the participants to show commitment in the training and should be ready to replicate the knowledge gained in the discharge of their duties and in achieving the needed development of Ebonyi State.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Ebonyi State team lead of USAID State2State Activity, Dr. Sam Onyia thanked the participants, especially top government officials for availing themselves of the opportunity to be trained on how to enhance their performance as drivers of Ebonyi State public service. He highlighted some key activities and achievements of State2State in Ebonyi State that were geared towards achieving the focus of State2State Activity which is accountability, transparency and effectiveness in governance.
The training had in attendance five Commissioners in Ebonyi State, including that of Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Orlando Nweze, Education Dr. Sunday Nwangele, Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Donatus Njoku.
Others are the Commissioners for Commerce and Industry Dr. Stephen Odoh, Women Affairs Mrs. Chinwe Okah, the State Aduitor General Dr. USA Ude, permanent secretaries, HoDs and other top government officials.
