Ebonyi professional on Saturday, presented the APC Gubernatorial expression of interest and nomination form to Ebonyi- born industrialist cum politician, Sir Edward Nkwegu, to contest for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Ebonyi state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC, stating that he is the best candidate for the job.
The event which took place at the Grand Arena, mile 50, Abakaiki had in attendance political heavy weight, political and professional associates, different support groups, Youths and women groups, captains of industry, the clergy, media practitioners among others.
Speaking during the presentation, Engr Stanley Ogah said, "we have carefully, x-rayed the individual aspirants, based on our conviction, Sir Architect Edward Nkwegu remains the best man for the job. He has really given back to the society, that's why, as young professional, we want the future of our unborn children to be guaranteed and knowing full well that our society today needs somebody of his caliber, that is why we have rally round, bought him these forms so that he can contest for the governor of our State".
Responding, Dr Edward Nkwegu, appreciated Ebonyi professional for presenting the forms to him. He said, "I want to appreciate Ebonyi professional for presenting this forms to me today. I also want to appreciate all of us here, Senior citizens of the state, people from different walks of life that have gathered here, Ebonyi men and women and Youths that are here to witness what has just taken place. To the Glory of God, I salute the industrious, friendly, peace loving, honest and accommodating people of Ebonyi state".
Continuing, Architect Edward Nkwegu, being an accomplished entrepreneur and human capacity builder, said, as he offer to serve the people of Ebonyi state, his administration will be anchored on the rule of law, industrialization, economic transformation and Infrastructural development among other areas.
"I offer myself for selfless services. May you employ me as your Chief servant in the 2023 Ebonyi gubernatorial election.
"I seek to govern Ebonyi state come 2023. I declare as Governor, I shall serve Ebonyi state with dedication, integrity, honesty, accountability, clarity of purpose and courage. I will build on the legacies of the present and past leaders of the state. I shall implement the vision of our great party, the All Progressives Congress APC, in the area of economic transformation, Civic responsibilities, good governance and healthy environment. There will be jobs,jobs and jobs which is the engine room of every economy and greatest employer of labour. The economic transformation will be enabled by rapid industrialization, Agricultural modernization, infrastructural development, sustainable and inclusive wealth creation. Our Civic responsibilities will focus on the areas of Education, access, quality and relevance. Health care delivery, sports, Youth, women and vulnerable people empowerment. There will be good governance with respect to the rule of law, accountability and reformation of the civil and public service. We shall maintain a healthy environment through cleaning, planning, developing sustainable market, villages Communities and cities in Ebonyi state.
"Ebonyi state under me as your Chief servant shall be a state were the conduct of Government business and public life shall be run as per by the rule of law and Nigeria Constitution. A dynamic, vibrant and strong State of happy people, who live in peace and harmony with one another. A prosperous state anchored on strong Agricultural revolution, increased industrialization and a strong economy without any space for any discrimination in terms of age, sex religion, ethnicity, political affiliation or social attachment on clan etc. It will be a state were all will join in patriotic zeal for sustainable development and opportunity for the reward of hard work. It will be a state were there is a progressive and sound education based on high moral standard and core values. Our administration will be a government based on full recognition of fundamental human rights and equality of every citizen before the law. A state were social services, public utilities, infrastructure, health care, education shall be available to all".
There were good will messages from Mr Nwibo Uchenna from Ebonyi local Government, Hon. Joe Ugbo from Ishielu Local Government Area, Dr Dandy Eruogu from Onicha Local Government Area, among others, attested to the leadership Prowess of Sir Edward Nkwegu and urged every Ebonyians to support him for a better and prosperous Ebonyi state.
Recall that Architect Edward Nkwegu was the gubernatorial candidate of labour party in 2015 election and APC gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019.
