The Honourable Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has extended branches of unity and peace to all other aspirants, who contested alongside him, in the 2022 APC Gubernatorial primary election in Ebonyi State.
Speaker Nwifuru, made this call, on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his official residence in Abakaliki, while addressing a creme of distinguished women of substance from Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi Local Government Areas, under the umbrella of Royal Women Association.
The vibrant and colourful women, who are fervent supporters of the wife of the Honourable Speaker, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, paid the third family of the State a visit, with massive gifts, to congratulate them on the emergence of Mr. Speaker as the Governorship candidate of the APC in Ebonyi State.
While thanking the women for their visit and show of love, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru described the contest which produced him as the party’s Governorship candidate in the State, as a huge lesson to him, one which has afforded him enormous experience. He went on extend hands of peace and unity to other aspirants, noting that he’ll be very willing to work with all of them, for a greater and unified Ebonyi State.
“Today by the Grace of God, I am the Governorship candidate of the APC in Ebonyi State. I give glory to God Almighty, my wife and all of you, and to those that contested alongside me. They taught me a good lesson and they educated me very well. I learnt a lot from this journey. It was a journey with a lot of struggles. To be a good servant, you must gather experience and those struggles build your experience and confidence. So I thank them very much.
“They are all my fathers, friends, brothers and in-laws. I am very grateful to all of them and I maintain that it is my duty and willingness to work with them. Let them bring those beautiful ideas they have put in place so that together, we’ll build a unified and greater Ebonyi State. I am open to work with them and my door is always open.”
Furthering his speech, the APC Guber candidate noted that his stellar focus will be on youth empowerment, creating business opportunities and enabling environment for businesses to thrive, community development and very importantly, consolidating on the infrastructural strides and human capital development already in place, by the present administration.
Speaker Nwifuru went on to call on the women to galvanise support for the APC, project the party, campaign for voter registration and educate Ebonyi people that this is our time, and that with the help of God Almighty and their support, he’ll be sworn in as the next Governor of the State, come May 29, 2023.
In her own speech, the wife of the Honourable Speaker, Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru appreciated the faith and love of her beloved women towards her husband and family. She implored them to be accommodating and be of the best behaviours in the society.
“I am grateful to God and to all of you, my beloved women for this show of love. More appealing to my heart is that, you’re the first group to bring us gift of this magnitude and I am aware that this costs so much. It means as well, that you made contributions to get this special gift long ago, testament of your faith and trust in God that we’ll win.
“So we appreciate your support and prayers. Very importantly, those out there will start to see me in all of you, so be of best behaviours. Show love to your fellow women and accommodate them. Ensure your children are of the best behaviours as well and continue to keep my darling husband and all of us in your prayers. Thank you so much.”
Indeed, it was an assemblage of women of quality character like Rt. Hon. Mrs. Patience Ogodo - a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Mrs. Genevieve Chidiebere Nwogha - Chairperson of Izzi Local Government Area, Mrs. Uche Edene - Deputy Clerk of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, and Barr. Mrs Felicia Nwankpuma - President of Royal Women Association, amongst many others.
