Ebonyi State Deputy Governor, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe has again reiterated his calls for urgent restoration of enduring peace and unity in some trouble spot in Ikwo local Government Area of the state.
Dr Igwe stated this on Thursday, at Eka - Awoke Community during the burial of late Eze Dickland Onuma Ogalegu ( Omere oha 1 of Eka - Awoke kingdom)
Igwe noted that Ikwo people has played pivotal roles in the advancement of the state hence, the need for enduring peace in the area. He called on the youths to exercise restraint in involvement on illicit drug consumption as such is destroying the youths in their numbers and in turn, breeding insecurity in the area.
The state Deputy Governor while conveying the condolence message of the state Government, the people of Ikwo and his family to the family of the departed Royal Father, urged them to find solace in the fact that their late father lived a life worthy of emulation, describing him as a man who successfully presided the throne of his forefathers when he was alive.
"On behalf of the Government of Ebonyi State, I condole with you, the entire Eze Dockland Onuma Ogalagu dynasty and the ancient kingdom of Eka-Awoke Omaka -Ejali on the transition of your patriarch and Traditional Ruler, Late HRH Eze Dickland Onuma Ogalagu (JP) who joined his ancestors on 3rd day of June, 2021 at the age of 61.
"While on his earthly sojourn, he dispensed justice without fear or favor and held tenaciously to the virtues of transparency and true democracy in his dealings with his subjects,nay, the public in general.
"Late Eze Dickland Ogalagu successfully presided the throne of his forefathers since 19th September,2021 till his demise.
"Your father will be solely missed, but I urge you to find solace and inspiration in his laudable legacies".
Th state number two citizen expressed worry that the demise of Eze Dickland Ogalegu have further created vacuum in the traditional stools in the council Area, calling on all Communities without traditional rulers to begin the search for one, so that as soon as the state government lift embargo on election of traditional rulers, it will be a smooth sail.
