The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development Hon. Celestine Nwali has expressed optimism that the Ebonyi State would soon be made to have green environment to protect it from the effects of ozone layer heat.
Hon. Nwali stated this when he received in audience members of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Ebonyi State Chapter.
He said the reason why the state will be green again is that he has included planting trees as one of the criteria for any developer to get approval of building development within Abakaliki Capital Territory.
Hon. Nwali equally said that his office is widely open for developers to get their house approval immediately their meet up with all the necessary steps to ensure that lives of those that will reside in the building is not at risk through using development control team which will constitute all the professionals in charge of building.
He assured them of team work as his office is open for everyone to get his attention any time in order to ensure that the aim to which he is appointed be achieved in no distant time.
Earlier the Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners TPL. Uchenna Nwafor in his address congratulated the the commissioner stressing that he is now a member of town Planners.
He said that the reason for the courtesy is for them to rob minds together on the improvement on the city road network, provision of bus stop at the express way, effect development control, acquisition of land for layout, planting of trees amongst others.
Adding their voices TPL Dr. Emmanuel Nwafor, TPL Philip Echegu the Project Manager NEWMAP amongst others appluded the effort the Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Umahi for appointing a well experienced man like him.
They said that town planning is the most critical profession that needs to get urgent attention as it concerns people and their environment.
They appealed that the government should always use the town Planners to develop the state as this will enable the developers be guided on the need to have good environment.
