The Commissioner for Trade and Investment in Ebonyi State, Barr.Mrs.Chioma Nweze has applauded the outstanding performance of Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission(EBSIEC) in conducting free, fair and credible election in Ebonyi State.
Hon.Nweze made this known to newsmen immediately after casting her vote at Okposi Okwu ward 4 in Ohaozara local Government Area of Ebonyi State saying that the credible process witnessed during the local government polls has clearly shown that Democracy has come to stay in the state and therefore appreciated Governor David Umahi who laid the foundation of this success story in the state through his commitment and dedication to ensure that the history of Ebonyi of State is written with Golden pen.
Earlier,Governor Umahi after casting his vote at Onuofukuru, Umunaga Uburu polling unit 013 on Saturday, lauded EBSIEC for the early commencement of accreditation and voting at the respective polling units, commended the Electorates for turning out enmass to exercise their right of franchise by electing their preferred candidate.
"I can say that I am quite satisfied with what I have seen and the reports I am getting from across the state.
"It is very peaceful, the turnout is quite impressive and the people are voting very freely for candidates of their preferences.
"There is no other political party in Ebonyi State, we have done quite well and no other political party in Ebonyi can boast of any reason why anybody in Ebonyi should vote for any party other than APC. We have performed, we have transformed the State, so Ebonyi people will not listen to promises, they are going to be listening to promises fulfilled under my administration", he said.
In a visit to some polling units in Abakaliki such as : New layout unit 001,002,003,004, among others,people were seen casting their votes to the candidate of their choice while the electoral officers were also busy issuing ballot paper to the electorate.
In some polling units, the rate of turnout are encouraging while some places recorded low turnout.Some of the voters like Ogoke Ngozi, Rose Ujoh, Uju Agbodike all expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the election saying that it is peaceful and well organized.
Security agencies like Civil Defence, Police were also seen in different polling units to ensure security.
