Ebonyi State Special Security Consultant, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha have called for strong synergy between Ebubeagu security outfit and other sister security agencies in tackling security challenges in the state, noting that security is a collective business, hence the need for strong collaboration.
Chief Emegha made the call on Tuesday at Unity Square Abakaliki, the state capital, during a meeting with Ebubeagu Commanders and operatives from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
The special security Consultant maintained that the essence of the meeting was to brainstorm and appraise the activities and conduct of Ebubeagu operatives with the view of addressing issues or challenges encountered in the field.
He reiterated that synergy with other security agencies is key in combating the security challenges and warned against laxity and unprofessional conducts, stressing that any one found wanting on the line of duty will be severly disciplined.
The security Consultant warned the Ebubeagu operatives against taking laws into their hands but enjoined them to always adhere strictly to the rules of engagement and never to detain suspects but should always ensure they hand over to police when arrests are made.
He however, commended them for their efforts in complementing the police in tackling crimes which have made the state stand out as the most peaceful in the comity of states.
He said, "As the law establishing this outfit demands, on no account should you harbour or detain any suspect. Make sure you handover suspects to the police who have the power to detain, interrogate and also prosecute them. If you go contrary to this charge, we will show you the way out because such conduct will not be allowed to thrive in the system.
"Respect other security agencies as your superior by collaborating with them at all times to make Ebonyi safer for all. Your work is to assist them and not to go into power tussle. This government will not tolerate such despite whose is involved".
"As an officer of the law in your own rank, you have to look smart and gallant always. The aim of this periodic exercise is to constantly refresh your memory and also bring you to speed with the latest techniques in security area. Be vigilant".
"Make sure you are always properly dressed for easy identification by the public. Always remember, you are policing your own people. You don't need to be harsh in anyways. Always be civil in your approach to issues".
