The special Assistant to Governor David Umahi on Internal Security, Hon. Eze Ikechukwu Panchris has described as false, malicious and baseless, the social media reports alleging that Ebubeagu security operatives on Saturday, August 20th 2022 disrupted the August meeting billed for people's club, believed to be in support of one of the candidate of the opposition party in the state.
In a statement made available to Journalist in Abakaliki on Saturday, the special Assistant on security said; "My attention has been drawn to a fallacious, malicious and baseless propaganda been peddled on the social media, by opposition elements, alleging that Ebubeagu security operatives disrupted the gathering of some women at people's club owing to their political leaning.
"For the avoidance of misleading the uninformed public, I want to make the following clarification on the issue.
"That we received an intelligence report on Thursday, 18th August 2022 of an intending invasion of the state by some hoodlums who plans to hibernate from the facility in question (people's club), and thereafter attack the state after a failed attempt on a police check point within the axis on Wednesday, 17th August, which left one of assailant dead.
"That on receipt of the report, we stationed our men (Ebubeagu) in the area for a preventive security measures and not against any political group as insinuated by the social media post.
"That we warn all fake social media reporters to desist from misinforming the general public and stop playing politics with sensitive issues as security.
"That no amount of propaganda or social media reports cum accusations or intimidation that can deter the men of Ebubeagu security outfit from sustaining the peace and stability that the administration of Engr David Umahi has brought to the state and also will not stop Ebubeagu from
carrying out its constitutional responsibilities of securing the state, her people and property from the criminals.
"That we affirm our earlier stand that those against the operation of Ebubeagu security outfit in the state are the real enemies of the people and indeed, the real sponsors of banditry and the unknown gunmen attacks in the region.
"That we urge all members of the public to discountenance such fake social media post and go about their lawful business as the sole intent of the fake report is to cause disharmony, breed acrimony and panic, increase political tension among the people along political diviide in the state".
