Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has called on all Nigerians to join hands in tackling the security challenges bedeviling the country.
Governor Umahi made the call on Wednesday, while hosting the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund who were on a courtesy call in Abakaliki.
Governor Umahi appreciated the Nigeria Police Force for their sacrifices in the security of lives and property of Citizens.
"Our basic problems in this Country is security, health and education.
"Security is everyone 's business, so I want to commend the Nigeria Police Force.
"We can't contest the fact that Ebonyi State remains the most peaceful and safest State in Nigeria, and it didn't just come.
"We all fought for it together and brought peace to our people."
Governor Umahi further strengthened his commitment to continue to support the Nigerian police Force, stating that the State Government is currently undertaking the construction of over ten police Stations destroyed during the EndSARS protest.
"Each time a policeman or woman dies in Ebonyi State, it gives me serious heartbreak because no man who is working to safeguard our people should die."
The Leader of Team, and member of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund, Chief Ben Akabueze, in his address, explained that they were in the State as part of their oversight visits to the various Police formations across the Country.
He noted that the aim was to ascertain the strength and weaknesses of the Police with a view to tightening all loopholes for effective service delivery.
Akubueze, also the Director- General of the Budget Office of the Federation applauded the Governor for massive infrastructural transformation which he maintained, has complemented policing in the State.
"I am highly delighted to be here today on this historic visit to you and the people of Ebonyi State, the main aim of our visit is to abreast your Excellency on the mandate and activities of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund"
Appreciating Governor Umahi for the the warm relationship existing between his administration and the Police Force in the State, he assured that the visit would help to further strengthen policing in Ebonyi State.
The Team Leader also appealled for more assistance from the Government in the procurement of operational vehicles as well as arms and ammunition.
Governor Umahi was joined in receiving the visitors by Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe and members of the State Executive Council.
