Members of Umuekumenyi Young Professionals Forum have been charged to work as agents of peace, development and ambassadors of great values of Ebonyi State.
The Director-General General, Ebonyi State Broadcasting Cooperation, EBBC, Engr Timothy Nwachi gave the charge when he received in audience the Interim Executive Officers of Umuekumenyi Young Professionals Forum who paid him a courtesy visit at the Broadcasting House, Abakaliki.
Represented by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Chief Vincent Olughu, the DG commended the Young Professionals for the initiative and described the visit as timely coming at a time another political transition period beckons on Nigeria. He charged the group to use their professional callings to enrich the values of Ebonyi State and change the narratives about the people.
"Your visit is timely given the fact that Ebonyi State and Nigeria in general is on the threshold of another political exercise and your professional callings comes handy in educating the people and contributing to the development of the society. I have no doubt in your capacity to achieve the fundamental objectives of the association and further unify your members for the greater good of Ebonyi State"
Earlier, The Interim President Umuekumenyi Young Professionals Forum, Dr. Isaac Monday Ikpor, highlighted the primary objectives of the Association to include harnessing the economic, political, and social resources of Abakaliki and to lay support to all tiers of government in an effort to create a sustainable future for young Ebonyi people.
He emphasised that the group provides a platform for encouraging young people educationally as well as offer young Abakaliki people opportunities for the development of their professional skills.
"This visit is being made out of the recognition of the importance of media in national development. We consider the media as a real force behind grassroots mobilization and a development agent. In order to improve the moral and intellectual development of Ebonyi young professionals and to raise their awareness of the value of a well-educated mind in societal progress, we consequently request to partner with the media in the area of education and in the promotion of the activities of the forum, especially our forthcoming inauguration in the state".
Others who spoke at the occasion including the Vice president, Engr Chika Igwe, the publicity secretary of the association Sampson Eze and the financial Secretary pastor ThankGod Nwebor appreciated the EBBC for the opportunity and commended the station for their quality and people driven programmes.
Umuekumenyi Young Professionals forum is a Non-Governmental Organisation composed of young professionals drawn from Ezza, Ikwo, Ishielu, Izzi, and Ohaukwu of Ebonyi State, coming together to achieve major objectives towards Abakaliki development.
