The Ebonyi South Senatorial District Candidate of the Action Alliance, Evangelist Reuben Uche Egwu has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kalu as "an iron gate of my Igbo people".
Evangelist Egwu, Friday in Abakaliki while reacting to the October 13 appellate court landmark judgement that acquitted the British-Nigerian activist and absolved him of all the charges levelled against him by the Nigerian Government lauded the judiciary for deciding consonance with the wishes of the common man.
"You see that yesterday's (Friday) landmark judgement, history will be kind to the Nigerian judiciary for acquitting the Igbo leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
" Many might know the socio-economic and even political implications of the judgment, especially in the 2023 context".
The Senatorial Candidate also argued that " beginning from yesterday, the Southeast's economy in particular and Nigeria, in general, will bounce back.
"Man-hour losses, the grinding economic condition and the region's volatile security situation will now be history, go and write it somewhere".
While lauding Kanu's persistence and his strength of character, Egwu said "
I am proud of him. He stood and continue to stand strong to die for his people.
"His release has given hope for a sustainable Nigeria and Igbo kingdom in general".
Recall that for over 11 months, the freedom fighter has been awaiting trial and this has further aggravated the security situation in the Southeast region of the country. His release, many say, will lay to rest to Sit-at-home order being enforced by his followers.
